Post Draft Odds and ends.. it's gonna be rough...

But he would still have background in it then right? How long ago was thst?
Nerd, they just switched coach's... he was in the pseudo-WC offense before this that ran a different zone scheme. He has no experience with this verbiage or offense per se. I saw that same report and the source was someone you shouldn't trust.

This is beyond laughable. You NEVER purposely leave talent on the board to make a point to one player. Rodgers is not on notice, the offense is not switching and the new kid is not going to take over for 2-3 years. As to the WR not being drafted he stated yesterday this : So, in a nutshell, here’s why Brian Gutekunst didn’t take a receiver: He said early in the draft, they couldn’t get high enough to take one of the top guys and then in the middle he “didn’t think there was anybody who could make an impact on our roster this year.” Then he rattled off Allen Lazard, EQ St. Brown, Devin Funchess, MVS, Malik Taylor and CFL signee Reggie Begelton among others as “guys pushing for playing time and production.” Reason they could not get high enough is they used their #4 to get Love.
Oh and if you want to see bad mechanics and footwork just watch some tape of Love. It’s a clinic

ML talked in his presser about two way players and run-pass disguise. That makes me think the WR they really had their eye on was Aiyuk, and SF jumped us to get him. Everything snowballed from there.

Very possible, assuming Love was not at top of the board. I think they miscalculated board thinking someone would fall in the 2nd (Mims) based on Gutes comments “they couldn’t get high enough to take one of the top guys” So 2 scenarios, one they need more the 4th to move up round 1 and that was to rich or after giving a 4th they had no equity to move up in 2nd

They could have given up their 3rd to trade up in the 2nd and get the receiver they wanted. Then in the 4th take Dillon or Deguara and everything the same. The way they played it they would not have missed out on much.

Odds and ends SEC which dominanted the draft again with players taken. The Packers did not draft one player from the SEC or even sign one as a UDFA. But the Packers did sign two players from Prairie View A&M LOL

Good point. Comes down to how they value the board I guess. And also board management

So current WR on roster in order of maybe depth chart

Adams, Lazard, Funchess, MVS, Kumerow, St. Brown, Begelton, Shepard, Taylor, Stewart

So have 10 WR's on the roster I think like 6 make the final cut my wild guess at the 6 are:

Adams, Lazard, Funchess, Kumerow, St. Brown, Begelton
I’ll say Shepherd instead of Kumerow

Overall
Nate Davis of USA Today: D. “Given the unprecedented stability they’ve enjoyed for nearly 30 years at quarterback, maybe we shouldn’t argue with their methodology – which included a Round 1 trade for Love, Aaron Rodgers’ potential heir apparent. But to take Love and then come back with one-dimensional RB A.J. Dillon at the end of Round 2, it just doesn’t seem enough was done to help Rodgers – he surely would’ve liked just one of this year’s bountiful crop of receivers – win now.”

Andy Benoit of SI.com: B-. “Packer fans may not love this draft, but given it’s long-term investment slant, only time will tell how it went.”

Ryan Dunleavy of the NY Post: C.

Dan Kadar of SB Nation: D. “The Packers had a strange draft.”

Logan Mullen of NESN: D. “If their goal was to sufficiently infuriate Aaron Rodgers, they probably succeeded. After taking Jordan Love, nothing else mattered.”
Pro Football Focus: D.

Tim Bielik of cleveland.com: D+. “It’s hard to understand the thought process of this draft. The Packers were one win from the Super Bowl, yet traded up to get the potential heir at quarterback to Aaron Rodgers instead of getting him offensive help. Deguara is the closest thing they got to immediate help as a pass catcher for Rodgers, and Dillon seems like an odd pick although I like his talent. Loading up on offensive line is never a bad thing, but they had a rough weekend, especially because they passed entirely on a historic class at wide receiver.”

Vinnie Iyer of the Sporting News: D. “Last and least, where to begin with this whiff of a class for Brian Gutekunst? After working so hard to build a 13-3 Super Bowl contender with Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur last year, Green Bay drafted too much for future years. Love, Dillon, Deguara all won’t help them win more games in 2020. Martin and Garvin were the best picks in relation to what they needed. They should have considered offensive tackle earlier and it was absolutely shocking to not add a wide receiver to support Rodgers. Heck, a defensive lineman for their 3-4 front even would have been nice. The Vikings, Cowboys, Buccaneers, 49ers and Saints all did much better as NFC contenders in relation, too.”

NFL editors at The Score: D.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com: C+. “Some Packers fans were not pleased that the team didn’t address needs at receiver, tackle and cornerback during the draft’s first three rounds. The three players they selected are intriguing talents, though; they will get their shot to show the skeptics their value (some sooner than others). Martin is an athletic linebacker who had an injury in 2019 but whose best football is ahead of him. The team attacked the offensive line late in the draft, picking Runyan, Hanson, and Stepaniak to shore up the depth chart. Garvin gives the team more pass rush depth.”

"One game from the SB." Yeah, a game in which our star QB had THREE turnovers.

If Aaron wants "help" getting to the SB, he can start stepping into his throws, running the plays that are called, getting the ball out in under 8 seconds, hitting the open guy, etc.

That way we wouldn't have to spend a high pick on someone who WILL.
