Post game Vikings upset Packers 28-22

Partially yes but the talent level has been questionable for years and 2 HOF QB’s have masked a lot of flaws.
So your saying Jordan Love won't be that 3rd HOF QB to mask flaws? :)

Aaron makes it hard to root for him sometimes.

Between the passive aggressive comments about the WR position/keeping scrub Kumerow and the “lack of energy/bad preparation” excuses I’m not having a ton of sympathy for him right now.

The Defense is just hot garbage at times, combination of talent a scheme that is about 5 years out of sync.

I said in the pre game thread.... if you lose to a team that bad you deserve no sympathy. They came out flat and thought it would be easy. As 44 said no effort. Deserved to lose. The good news is the Niners are going to very short-handed on Thursday... it's a game they should win. A loss here and ML has problems.

I think this is the real Packers team we saw yesterday a defense that is bottom 5 in the NFL that can't tackle anyone and a offense that was without one of it's best players. The dropoff from Jones to Williams is huge. Also the WR's not named Adams on this team yesterday are scrubs who would not be on many teams rosters. This team lacks talent and the drafting has been subpar for a number of years to rebuild talent. When Rodgers is gone I think we are going to have years of bad teams as I have zero faith that Gute can draft good talent to make this a contending ball club.

Will see how they respond. If they come out on fire play a complete game and still lose to SF? That's fine.

If they come out like a dead fish again then there are major issues

This a strange year. Teams are losing games that they are heads on favorites to win. Only one NFC Division is a real winner. The West. They stand at 20-10. Our Division is 15-14. NFC South is 15-15, and NFC East is 12-21. As far as our 5-2 record, it stands as the second best record. Seattle is 6-1, and we're tied with the Saints, Bucs, and Cards.

Our scoring is good. We stand at 219 points in 7 games. 31.3 points per game. Only Tampa Bay at 31.7, and Seattle at 34.3 are outscoring us. We're on schedule to be one of the best teams, based on offensive firepower.

Our defense is failing. It's pretty simple. We are giving up 26.7 points per game. That simply means that even bad teams can put up solid numbers against us, and when it happens, and our match ups with our offense doesn't generate a lot of points, we're screwed. Point in case? The Vikings game. We lose 28-22. We gave up about the normal amount of points that we do, but the Vikings defense played what could be argued as by far, their best game of the year, to this point. Minnesota gives up an average of just over 31 points per game. We failed to cover that figure. Why?

I haven't got the figures yet, but in week #7, the beginning of a problem emerged. Adams was the target on 16 passes, the rest of the team was targeted 18 times. Watching the game yesterday, I got the impression that they'd committed to as high, or higher a percentage of throws directed at Adams than in week #7. I could pick out guys being open repeatedly, well before the throws, and Rodgers either not seeing them, or already being locked in on Adams, and ending up having to throw it away.

This one man receiving show is killing us. At least they're bringing our TEs into play, but they are often way more than they are targeted. Spread the ball around. Quit relying on Rodgers to bail them out on offense after first and second down failed runs, creating an obvious passing down with 6 or more yards to gain. We've become predictive, and then relying on the Rodgers to Adams connection to do it all.

In the end, our defense is going to continue to fail when they're needed most. They may pull out a great game now and then, but it's only temporary. They can be counted on to fail. They put the Packers in a position yesterday that said that our offense had to score every time we had the ball, or we were going to get beat. We just couldn't sustain a couple of drives, and we're suddenly down by 14.

The rest of the season will rest directly on the shoulders of Rodgers right arm. Don't count on the running game, because Jones being nicked may leave him less than 100% for the rest of the year. The rest of our RBs are pedestrian at this point.

Just my opinions.

The Good
  • Not much, but Adams continues to put points up
  • Tonyan and Sternberger while not spectacular we’re solid
The Bad
  • It’s no secret that the WR group sans Adams is pedestrian and that’s being kind. MVS is a one trick pony and St Brown is what he is...a body
  • Williams was ok, not great but then neither was the OL
  • Rodgers.....ok he played well but with this group he needs to play great. I get the debate about spreading the ball but damn you need guys to get separation and run crisp routes
  • Defense is a mess. It’s the DC, it’s the talent, it’s the execution (and as John McKay would say i favor that). It’s a team effort and it’s not getting fixed soon.
  • Depth especially on defense is horrible. Jackson should not see the field, 44 is a body that’s it. 1 QB hit, Lowery? Let that sink in
The Rest
  • Was weather a factor yes. But breaking news it’s November in Wisconsin
  • Rodgers has to play great. No 2 ways about it.

  • We are 5-2.
