Trading Aaron Rodgers

What is on GB's mind in the front office is just a matter of controversy at this point where we all are concerned. Will Rodgers start, and how long? Will Rodgers be traded and when? Is Love the kind of QB that starts right away? All good questions but no wrong or right answer.
All we can do at this point is speculate. Rodgers came off the bench with four seasons of learning and practice with the Pack. Love has no NFL time logged in and in many scouts was considered to start after a few years.
My guess is unless Rodgers starts mouthing off about being traded or becomes a problem in the clubhouse then he stays and starts for the Packers. Does this mean Rodgers plays but does not put it all out there? Well he does if he expects to be welcomed by another team giving him $$$$$$.
My final thought is, Love is NOT Mahomme and there is no guarantee he ever will be one. Rodgers is not playing like he has 4-5 years ago but he still can win a team games with the proper weapons and protection. Rodgers stays and Love waits his turn unless something unexpected happens.

You can't make Love wait 4-5 years to wait. You don't draft a 1st round player to make him sit for that long.

it isn't that much different. rodgers' rookie contract was five years / $7,700,000. qb salaries have obviously risen since then, but rodgers was a first round pick with a five-year contract. he was vastly underpaid in years 4 and 5.

But they did not let the original deal expire


2008: Six years, $63.52 million

The deal included $20 million guaranteed against injury and only $7 million guaranteed. Rodgers, then 24, was just two months into his first season starting for the Packers. The extension locked him in through the 2014 season.

new CBA 5th year option is much different

With needing to pick up option after year 3 you won't pick that up with a guy who nas not started. Love is starting year 3 unless he is hurt.
