Thompson: "We value draft and development, we value free agency"

Ok with the current deals Packers have done they should have about 13 million left under the cap. Their rookie pool will be around 5.5-6 million or so I am guessing based on last years being 5.1 million. This would leave about 7-7.5 million under the cap to spend.

Do the Packers sign anyone else or does Ted carry this over into the season?

Remaining Packers FA's

BJ Raji, James Starks, Casey Hayward, Mike Neal, Sean Richardson, Andrew Quarless, Don Barclay, Scott Tolzien, Brett Goode, John Kuhn, James Starks.

Gonna need to sign someone. 11 guys on that list. Even if all the 2016 draft picks make the team they wouldn't fill the 53 man roster.

you forgot about the five or six undrafted free agents that will make the final 53

Agree Ted seems to value quantity or quality when it comes to picks. He should have like 9 picks including comps if he trades down a couple times he gets a couple more. Lets say 9 of the 11 picks would then make the roster plus 2-3 UDFA make it usually ever year so you have 11-12 guys right there.

I could see Ted not sign anyone else then use that money to carry over to see if he can get a deal done in season to extend anyone and if not carry the cash into 2017.

First. Thompson does not negotiate contracts. Russell Ball does. And to imply that Thompson did not try because he was at pro day....last I checked cell phones still work and in reality the parameters of both deals were done Monday.
I am not a fan of Thomson and the way he approaches free agency. But it takes 2 parties to make a deal. Like it or not Trip Advisor doest not rate Greetings Bay as the ideal free agent destination. Who knows where GB was on their wish list.
Lot of factors go into free agency.

one of the factors that goes into free agency is that your gm has to give a crap.

"... Trevathan revealed on Thursday that he was hoping to receive a call from the Packers so he could sign with them.

"I wish they would have, but they didn't," Trevathan told NFL Network. "My guy Randall Cobb is over there, but they didn't so I'm here with Chicago."

That's pretty damning.

Kinda interesting. Rumors are out there that We may be interested in Forte....Peppers is working on him. Nada.

Now we hear that Trevathan wanted to come to the Packers and no one contacted him.??? You mean his agent contacted the Packers and they didn't respond. Hmmmm. Not sure I believe that...

I stand corrected. ESPN is reporting that Trevathan made that statement. I just find it odd that his agent didn't give the Packers a call.

Why odd? We have seen the Packers don't value FA at all outside of their own. TT's comp picks are to important to him to give up.
