Thompson: "We value draft and development, we value free agency"

I wonder how pissed MM does get that Ted will never go out and try to get him a good player via FA to improve the team. Has to be frustrating that you have to rely on what ever whim Ted is on to draft.

Why odd? We have seen the Packers don't value FA at all outside of their own. TT's comp picks are to important to him to give up.

Because if you really wanted to play for Green Bay wouldn't you have your agent contact them? Just because he said they didn't call him doesn't mean there was no conversation. I also don't think is has anything to do with comp picks. He values his management of the cap.

Lets also remember that we have a full complement of guys under contract now, even with 10 or so still unsigned. Only the top 51 contracts (or is it 53?) are used to calculate the team's CAP number.

For example, if they sign say Kuhn to a $1.5mil/1yr deal it's really only a $1mil CAP hit because the $450k contract at the bottom of the list now drops off. There is still room to sign a few of our own guys to near minimum type deals and we'll mostly still be a fair bit under the CAP.

I suspect when all is said and done, a few more of those UFA's will end up with deals.

It comes down to $$$. TT isn't going to mortgage the franchise and make a panic move just because fans want him to. Is he a bit too tight? maybe or maybe not. Again in most cases there are reasons why players are available and aren't kept by their old teams.
