Post Game Green Bay Defeats Indy 16-10

Jayden Reed: "Coach LaFleur told us at the beginning of the week, 'Man, get your blocking gloves on.' This was a blocking game for us. We went out there. We did our job." #Packers

Elgton Jenkins told me #Packers weren't sure who would be quarterback throughout week. The beauty of Matt LaFleur's game plan was it wouldn't change regardless of QB. Even if Jordan Love played, the idea was to run the football a TON to protect QB1.One game plan. Two QBs.

Overall I'm thrilled with this one. The GB Packers, of all teams, put together a run heavy game plan and executed it almost to perfection in the first half, that fumble being the lone blemish. The way the team is built, any game they win with a backup QB feels like a stolen win, no apologizing for this one. Tip of the cap to Tucker Kraft, who put on a clinic in the first half, and to ML and coaches for getting everyone - even the WR - on board with a run heavy plan.

I thought GB could run on Indy and they did. I thought GB could take advantage of Richardson's scattershot arm as long as they could avoid the deep stuff, and they did. Jonathan Taylor had his way with them but they picked off Richardson 3 times and even forced a "short" (by his standards) Hail Mary by pressuring with 5 instead of that soft 3 they used to do. D was much better than last game but two personnel issues - IMO Quay and Nixon - continue to stick out like sore thumbs. We shall see.

For anyone who thinks they were too conservative, I think they would be courting disaster to open it up with Willis. He has a big, slow wind up and you do not want him in situations where he has to read the field, make adjustments etc. ML held his hand perfectly through this one, and he hit the one big throw when he had to and took off with his feet when he had to. If Love is in there you can take it to the bank, he'd be dropping the hammer with the WR in the second half but that's not something they can do with Willis.

Biggest takeaway may be that Love was engaged on the sideline and walking around without a limp. He's gotta be close.

I interrupt this thread for your weekly cold bucket of water.....

Lots of "ML called the game too conservative bh) out there after this game. How many times have we heard in the past 3 years... " We need to run the football" or " Why the hell does ML not keep running" Guess what? He did today, so maybe we should give a bit of consideration to that before flapping our gums.

Further, there is the bitching and moaning about the defense....AGAIN! For 2 years people complained( rightfully so) about Barry ball and that useless scheme of a defense. Barry's defense doesn't hold the Colts to 10. But we did today. Also, GB has 5 picks on the year already....we had 7 all last year.So maybe wait a few more games before getting down on this group.

We are 1-1 with are all everything QB on the bench, several thought we couldn't win a game without him. Enjoy it..revel in our improved defense and running game. gopackgo

Yeah, it's way too early to draw any conclusions on defense. The scheme is 100% better but a tad vanilla. I thought the run game was really key today

That was unnecessarily close, but better than losing a game you had no business losing.

Today did nothing to convince me Willis is a viable QB. Couple times late in game they had Clifford warming up.
