Post-game GB Beats JAX 30-27

MLF needs to call games with Jordan Love more similarly to games with Willis. O might be unstoppable. Great thing about Jacobs is that he can run out of shotgun and with the QB under center, true workhorse guy and they should lean on him.

Let's see what Love's injury looks like in a day or so, resting him until after the bye with a soft tissue injury could be helpful.
Is he calling it differently or is Love not sticking to the script and changing things? hide)hof(

He's not AR, if you watch them they have two calls in, the one ML calls and a "can can can" thing. He's not trying to run stuff from Utah State that he liked.

can is terminology for check down in the Shanahan system... if watched closely the Texans did it last week. However, it has dummies built in for example "can" 1 time might be a no-call while " can can can" x3 is the real check down. EVERY play has an associated check in their system. They switch those weekly so you never know..what was/is a check.

It's 100% the QB job in the system to read the coverage and check out via his read. Has nothing to do with ML

I think there are some things we can all agree on. First of all, McManus is coming through when needed, and secondly, Malik Willis is one helluva relief pitcher.

The last time I saw a guy who was like this goes back to George Blanda and the Raiders of the 70s. The guy could step up off the bench.

Next? Josh Jacobs for being able to get that tough yardage between the tackles. He's a real work horse.

How about Tucker Kraft? He's a fighter out there. He gets better every day. He's gonna be special before he's through.

Watching Romeo Doubs make some of those catches is awe inspiring. He can move those chains when asked. That sideline catch was pure beauty. And the pass itself? Awesome. Love's got chops. Need him healthy.

Kudos to the offensive line after looking pretty bad for most of the game. When it came to crunch time, they stepped up and got the job done. They gave Jacobs creases, and showed Willis he'd have time to make those pitches.

Scary situation? Our defense went from totally awesome early in the game to looking like they had more holes in it that places for holes. They quit tackling, lost that pass rush, and for some reason couldn't cover granny with a walker for half the game. It did not make sense.

Sean Rhyan is just horrible in the run game. But it seems Morgan is even worse out there that he can't unseat Morgan for playing time. This off-season Gute could have some major work to do as your LT, OC, and RG are all below average starters.

Weird game and nice win! A little worried about the injuries. With Love rolling to the ground heading for the sidelines, I'm worried this might be more of an injury than I was thinking. Might be be best for him to sit out the Lions game and rest during the bye and focus on getting back for the Bears. Give Willis all the reps this week.

My keys to the season:

Kicking game: Another week with no drama - Yay! McManus just hits them all clean and right down the middle. Hopefully they have their kicker and punter figured out for a few years at least. Another nice acquisition by Gute. (Just think how bad this team would be without McManus, Willis, McKinney, and Jacobs - all 4 were keys to this week's win.)

Run defense: Just "meh" again, especially late in the game. They're doing just enough to win.

Inexperience at QB: Not much of a factor in this game. Both Love and Willis played well, though that one interception wasn't the wisest throw.

Was a little disappointed with the way the defense finished. I know they were a little gassed, but it's not like they were out there a ton today. T.O.P. was 34 - 26 minutes in favor of the Packers. Especially concerening given that the Jags had lost their top 2 receivers. Too many guys running wide open on those late game drives. They have a little bit of a problem brewing at CB - Stokes is not good, Nixon is just adequate and for some reason they don't like Valentine very much. Starting to look like a major off-season need.
