Can you imagine being Rodgers and watching TB acquiring Tom Brady and building a team of all-stars around him (both pre-season and during the regular season) to get to a SB this year and next? It has to not sit well with Rodgers knowing the Packers didn't bring in the tools necessary to bring them over the top from last year's 13-3 run to the NFC Championship game -- instead opting to build toward that mythical team three and four years from now. It always keeps us hanging around near the top at the end year-after-year, but never to the top.
The following is my opinion only (and I know I'm in the minority) but here goes: To blame Rodgers for this loss or lack of SBs I believe is myopic. We all know without him we're probably a 5-11 team, 7-9 at best. He shoulders an awful lot. He gets us ahead in games usually double digits, then usually holds on from other team issues. We also know that coming from behind is all on him. When he is under that kind of pressure and misses a pass or run but still has a good game, the Packers aren't built to overcome that to take that pressure off him. They've built themselves around a QB that needs to be perfect. Listen, Brady sucked that game, yet they still won! TB had the coaching and talent in other places to prevent a loss.
If I'm Rodgers, I'm super-pi$$ed about that draft and FA after a 13-3 Championship game season. If I'm him, with his talent and offense experience and smarts, I want in on decision-making - specifically acquiring talent - for this team to win NOW! And not build yet again for that unicorn team three and four years from now. If you're arguably the best QB to ever play this game on the other side of your peak, I would think there has to be a strong desire to be the #1 team now. Or I'd want to take my chances on a team dedicated to a SB now, like Tampa Bay.
