Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

I don't see OG as a need at all.

Rhyan and Jenkins are under contract - that's it. Newman and Runyan are free agents and likely gone. Even if you re-sign one of them, they aren't good players. That means they have 2 guards on the roster. Very fair to say it's not a major need if you believe in Rhyan, but you can't go into the season with only 2 guards on the roster. You'd have to play musical chairs on the line with Zach Tom every time a guard gets nicked up.

Zach Tom is not a OT he's a guard he starts at RG

so seeing it's possible GB could make playoffs still or finish dead last in the NFC North.

For playoffs it's win out and have SF beat Rams in week 18

For last place it's GB losses to MN and Chicago and Bears beat ATL in week 17.

Well, he's pretty much been starting at RT for most of 2 years and doing it pretty well. If they had anyone better, he's be playing. Right now I don't see the upside of taking your best OT, moving him to OG, and leaving 2 weak spots at OT, the most important positions on OL.

Yeah he's been at RT and the best compliment I can say (not sarcastic) is that I dont notice him. It's like the old Mark Tauscher thing, he doesn't make crazy athletic plays, he doesn't screw much of anything up. He's just there and that's fine with me.

Also, the point of the exercise is to think about what's an urgent, five alarm need versus what's nice to have. Tom is a functioning, good RT. Compare that to the S position right now, or the RB room next year, or the questions at CB. Just not in the same league.

Agreed.

The only possible way that Tom is not at RT tackle next year is if they happen to draft a caliber starting RT that is just as good or better and you can move Tom to Center. They have said he is better at Center then any other position, I believe. Which might happen if Meyers continues to be average or below.

This is the reason I might draft two tackles in the draft but that is just me.

No one, not any one player is bigger than the team. I don't care what level you're at, once that happens you have to take action. I personally would have taken his bum back and shoulder and put him on IR for the year, he's not been 100% and played well all season

Going forward they have another decision to make in that defensive backfield. Oh, one other thing, please spare me the "player x doesn't like the way the offense/defense is called and that they are upset" bullshit.

These men are PAID professionals, go tell your boss on any job "Well not happy with how you do your job so I think I won't do mine" FIRED. Go out and give 100% and do your best no matter what the call is... execute. If you can't or won't then do you really want that guy on your team?
