Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

@ByRyanWood

#Packers QB Jordan Love on what Jaire Alexander is like as a teammate: "He has a unique personality, but I think Jaire is a great teammate. I think he always has the right interests in his heart, and he's always trying to be out there and put his best foot forward on the field."

Unique personality aka he is so full of himself he has his head up his own ass.

Not the way I see that at all.

Related, but could Love have been any more impressive off the field this year? Geez. Just steady leadership, good perspective, tuning out the BS, supporting his teammates etc. What more can you ask of the guy.

Love is smart he is not going to throw a teammate under the bus. It's hard for him he's the team leader he can't undermind the coaches decision and he can't say his teammate was in the wrong.

@KenIngalls

If the Packers move on from Jaire Alexander in 2024, it would be costly.If released/traded before June 2, his contract would leave $27.5M dead cap 2024 - causing a $3.5M loss in cap space.After June 1 leaves $8.4M dead in 2024 with $15.6M net savings, and $19.1M dead in 2025.

I think it's safe to say he checked all the boxes....already has an off-season camp set up.... work outs with his WR scheduled etc.

They needed to send a message and may need to send a few more before they're done. They might trade Alexander and will almost surely cut/trade Campbell. Not sure about any others, though there are a couple of guys seemingly underperforming regularly. Everything on defense needs to be looked at and a major house-cleaning is needed. If Alexander is moved, the CB situation goes from major need to critical.

Interesting Walker is a great tackler but ass in coverage.

IDK as he’s having a banner year, but I think it is worth noting that Quay Walker has the 3rd-highest tackling grade of any LB in the league by
@PFF
. 5 missed tackles in 748 snaps on defense.Allowing 83% of passes his direction to be completed for 10.5 yards per, though.

Like I said before. When your DC pairs you up against a top wr and you’re an LB? Those stats for Walker are skewed …

It is still a little disconcerting though that despite the def being a dumpster fire nobody has stepped up to be that veteran leader who is like “get our heads out our butts and fix this”… I haven’t even heard a very forceful support for Barry and his scheme from the players.

It’s one glaring need that’s been evident for awhile… but now more than ever it speaks volumes that none of those high pick veterans has really stepped into that role.
