Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

Walker is what he is. A linebacker, with normal speed. To do what Barry wants, the guy who fills that spot needs to have DB speed and LB size, so he can play both pass and run. Being thrown into that spot isn't on Walker, it's on the Packers running schemes that put a guy on an island to fail. Of course, that said, I don't think we have any linebackers on the roster who are capable of playing that spot. Then I ask, why not?

Been reading a lot of false narratives about ML and his hires,

He’s made 6 coordinator hires.

National Hackett, never coached with LaFleur before

Shawn Mennenga, zero past coaching interactions with LaFleur

Maurice Drayton, never coached with LaFleur before 2019, internal promotion.

Joe Barry, former colleague

Adam Stenavich, never coached with LaFleur before 2019, internal promotion.

Rich Bisiaccia, no former coaching interactions.

So that’s only 1 of 6 so far that would be deemed ‘his buddy’. So not sure the whole he only hires his friends etc comes from but that's false.

I wonder if people are getting the two internal promotions confused with nepotism? It's obvious from your research that he has not been hiring friends he'd coached with for those positions otherwise.

Who has been saying he has been hiring friends? The media?

The thing I think fans are concerned about is that Barry was a friend of his and he has not fired him even though he has deserved to be fired last year at the end of the season and now possibly the last two games.

I have not heard anything else about him hiring all friends or buddies to his coaching staff.

It's been part of the entire "conspiracy theory" around everything that's wrong with the Packers. Nobody has to specifically say anything, it's just a careless comment that's repeated, then eventually embellished to make it sound like it's fact.

Rest assured, there have been people making those comments. There always are. Just like all the false "observations" about what's transpired between LeFleur and some of the players on defense. I'm surprised that they haven't come out with a comment saying that the reason they traded Rasual Douglas to Buffalo because he was the "ring leader" of a conspiracy to overthrow Barry.

If the Packers move on from Jaire Alexander in 2024, it would be costly. If released/traded before June 2, his contract would leave $27.5M dead cap 2024 - causing a $3.5M loss in cap space. After June 1 leaves $8.4M dead in 2024 with $15.6M net savings, and $19.1M dead in 2025.
