Packers 2023-24 Season Thread

RP answered but I'll add to it we don't have the depth to do that now..... honestly Jaire contract puts in another bind. I am drafting a corner and safety high and a depth Corner or safety late
And just so it's clear just like his predecessor, Jordon Love suffers because Gute can't draft talent consistently. Rather than adding pieces for him we need to add more to the defense....AGAIN!

Our entire defensive backfield has to be upgraded. I wouldn't think anyone who plays those 5 positions, including nickel back, are safe. I'd also say the same thing about our interior linebackers, and Smith on the outside. Lots of needs here, and not enough picks to fill them all. To get what we need, it takes a lot of earlier picks, not a bunch in the 7th round.

They found some really good players on offense recently but misses on D have become soul crushing. You’d think there would be some accountability in that scouting department but no one leaves, they all just get promoted.

Bingo, no accountability at all. This kind of inbreeding kills rosters.

True enough, though in Gute's defense, the Alexander and Stokes issues are the sort of bad luck that's hard to plan for. I'm no fan of Gute, but it's hard to predict things like this will happen to players. Since he's not going anywhere I hope Gute got the crappy drafts out of his system those first few years and he drafts more like the past 2 years - I know it's kinda early to judge them but the past 2 drafts seem better.

I'm really hopeful he also learned some lessons on bad contracts. Hopefully with them digging out from under some of those now they can hit CB and S in free agency as well as the draft. They will have some CAP space for a couple of mid-range type free agents.
