Mark's Best Available Defensive Coordinators list

Something of the Pat Fitzgerald in him, or Kirk Firentz. Dipping the toe into the NFL waters every now and then but at the end of the day he’s got such stability now and a clear path forward, would be hard to turn that down for the uncertainty and high stress of the NFL. I don’t know why ANY of these long term program guys leave their NCAA jobs, seems like such a great gig.
not to mention, the pension plan is a lot better.

I can only respond to that logical post by suggesting that , in spite of the stability/security of being what/where he is right now, he played in the NFL for 10 years and that “taste” never really leaves you.
Some people can ignore it, but some can’t.
Guess we will find out which one Jimmy is!

Does that mean he was offered the position or is he just removing himself from consideration?

If Leonhard turned it down he and his family must really love Madison and don't want to move for nothing and is happy were he is and does not care about career advancment because I can't see PC leaving UW anytime soon that would open up the HC job there.

Yes, and nothing wrong with that.

Joe Barry is still in the mix it seems, another guy that has an iffy history as a DC but is a great position coach, really strange pool of coaches here.
