Mark's Best Available Defensive Coordinators list

If Evero is the guy, then looking at the way LA played I think we would need a hell of an upgrade at LB to make it work. They had the highest percentage of plays in nickel league wide, and the highest rate of 6 man fronts in the league. Donald gave them a lot of flexibility to do that, but we don’t have Aaron Donald.

If Leonhard turned it down he and his family must really love Madison and don't want to move for nothing and is happy were he is and does not care about career advancment because I can't see PC leaving UW anytime soon that would open up the HC job there.
Or he just likes / loves the college game vs pro. Maybe he enjoys recruiting, the kids. Not the first P5 coordinator or HC who wanted to stay

Exactly. The article about Staley, and his philosophy, was about highlighting certain positions of strength. Ramsey, Donald etc. That's if Evero was married to that scheme. Who knows. He may have a whole different take on what he wants to do. I actually think Evero is going to be the hire.

I'm hoping it's Leonhard's intent to stay with the Badgers until such time that he becomes the head coach. Don't be too surprised that down the not too distant road he's offered a Co-Head Coach or Assistant HC, with the Badgers. I think it's a natural, to insure he sticks around and can be heir apparent.

I'm glad he opted out of GB. We need him in Madison. There are others in the coaching pool who can be solid DCs.

I was selfish and wanted him to stay also. Right now Rudolph is Associate HC so doubtful another title is coming anytime soon.

You're probably right. But, I think Rudolph's tenure of becoming HC has slipped some, based on how Leonhard has approached the job. The offer to him, in the NFL, kind of points at how good people see he could be.

I wonder what happens the next time Rudolph is approached about a HC job. Especially if it's a Power 5 school.

Personally I don’t think Rudolph has much of any P5 interest from other schools. Group of 6 maybe. I never really though he was the next guy, the title was to get him out of Pitt more than anything else. What will be interesting to watch is when the new AD is in place in 2-3 years if there is some movement
