2025 Badger Football Thread

If we can't replace 656 yards of receiving production (54.67 / game), we shouldn't have a football team.

I get it, it would be nice to have them. And, maybe in a better system they would have done better. But, there were many times when Locke hit Bucky receivers in the hands and it wasn't caught.

Supposedly, we now have quarterbacks who can actually throw. We'll see.
first of all, the team needs depth. second, experience is worth something - having a bunch of freshman receivers is not going to be good for offensive production. third, let's say you are expecting 2,750 receiving yards over the 11 game season (250 yards/game). very few receivers can average more than 60 yards/game. you're going to need three receivers, a couple tight ends and a running back who can catch. and then you're going to need reliable backups for those players. losing your two most experienced receivers isn't a minor deal. that's my opinion.

100%.... Keg you can't keep shrugging off these guys leaving. The new 105 rule means no more walk-ons to take up the slack....we are down about 17 players right now, UW better be off their hinders and grab a WR #1 quickly

I get what you're saying. I disagree with some of it. And, some of it is just living with this damn system. I'm just not going to worry about it anymore. It's not a flippant good riddance attitude.

I've got nothing against the guys who are leaving. But, there's nothing we can do about it. Football is harder. All teams are turning over. Lots if not most coaches are looking at a roster and looking for guys who will be better next year. They're probably hanging out wondering who the hell will they be coaching next year. There's less team building and more immediate satisfaction - how unfortunately current American.

Our recent receivers leaving probably left because it's not going to be the Dairy Raid anymore. Well, it's not the Dairy Raid anymore in large part because they didn't catch the ball. Coach Fick was probably honest with them about the change in offense and a strategy involving less passing - so they went somewhere else to create the highlights we didn't get. And, yes, we didn't have the best quarterbacks. But, they also dropped a lot of balls they should have caught.

We have to be able to find guys who can catch a damn football. They are out there.

Maybe we have to hit rock bottom. And, then build it back up. There have to be 105 kids that will take a fall in Wisconsin to play football.

Badgers are ass. No one good wants to stay on this team. They see the schedule next year and know it's going to be ugly. If you are a 18-20 year old kid do you want to stay on a team that might win at best 4 games next year and the coaching staff future is uncertain?

Not going to dismiss the loss of Pauling and Williams, but this is the way college football works now. For the 23-24 portal cycle there were 10 teams that lost 30 or more players, some of them top-25 teams.

Trech is back and Berry-Johnson was getting snaps in the slot by the end of last season so I think they can cover Pauling's snaps if not necessarily all his production. They have had visits from a couple of WR's already and it sounds like they may get a couple more visits. Hopefully, a couple will commit and cover for the loss of Williams.

I think the addition of Koziol, the TE is significant. From what I've read, Grimes likes to use TE's, so some of the lost production may go there. I could also see Dupree more involved in the passing game.

Alex Grinch has left his role as safeties coach at WI to take thte DC job at UCF.

Badgers have lost their mind...offering D3 DB because they are from "WI" F..... WFCA

Possibly a partial reason the Safeties Coach left? I know he's becoming a Defensive Coordinator, but he also has to be looking at lunacy like that.

I really want to have faith, but ...
