It's a lot of things..the problem is they added a bunch up front and nothing in the back end of the defense. I am starting to really wonder about this coaching staff.Xavier Lucas, the best of their young CBs has entered the portal. Now I'm officially concerned. Is this simply a money thing, or do they have a coaching problem. Their secondary has been decimated.
Edit: Sounds like he's headed to Miami and that it probably is a money thing, along with the chance to go "home".
they're going to a 6-4-1 alignment. It's a lot of things..the problem is they added a bunch up front and nothing in the back end of the defense. I am starting to really wonder about this coaching staff.
awful awful signing............... thats a waste of space and a guy whos going to get roasted in coverage. His video isn't even that much hustle. We NEED D1 talent on this team not FCS and D3 kids.Badgers have gotten a commitment from Matt Jung, a safety from D-3 Bethel. Originally from Neenah Wisconsin. Jung has good size at 6'3" - 215#. He has 2 years of eligibility remaining. Adds depth to a room that's woefully thin. Coming from D-3 is a concern, but considering his portal offers, it seems he's legit.
From BadgerWire:
Jung chose the Badgers over other transfer offers from Football Bowl Subdivision schools including Buffalo, Iowa State and Washington State. He was also reportedly set for an official visit to Iowa.
The D-III First Team All-American tallied 109 tackles, 10 1/2 tackles for loss, 2 1/2 sacks, two forced fumbles, nine interceptions and 11 pass deflections in 2024. That production followed a 72-tackle, seven-interception, 4-1/2-tackle-for-loss, eight-pass-deflection 2023 campaign.
He joins the Badgers with two years of eligibility remaining.
I appreciate the concerns, I have them as well, but if he's that bad, why are schools like Iowa scheduling him in for a visit. I felt exactly like you until I started reading up on him. He had a handfull of Power-5 offers and visits scheduled. I can't imagine they all just want to waste time on a guy who isn't worthy of playing D-1 ball. So I'm taking a wait and see approach for now.awful awful signing............... thats a waste of space and a guy whos going to get roasted in coverage. His video isn't even that much hustle. In no way can we get to be competitive vs Power 5 by signing FCS and D3 kids even for depth, our starters weren't very competitive vs those teams this year, We lost 7 corners and we sign a slow-ass kinda safety from Neenah? That's not going to feed the bulldog.I appreciate the concerns, I have them as well, but if he's that bad, why are schools like Iowa scheduling him in for a visit. As for space, I'm not that worried. They currently sit at 85 players, I believe (not including current walk-ons).. With the scholarship and roster limit going to 105 for next year, they have room. They aren't adding another 20 guys from the portal and the late signing period. Maybe he's nothing more than a scout team guy and 3rd string depth, but it's not like there's a numbers concern. Maybe he's just a glorified walk-on for two years that eliminates one of the walk-ons currently on the roster. Maybe I'm not understanding something.
They still have more work to do and are still hosting more visits and putting out more offers to hopefully better players. They still need CBs, Safeties, and a WR.
