2024 Badger Football Thread

You have to question if this team has a shot even against Neb or MN. I am rethinking that now 2025 could be a hot seat year for Fickell. Though more then likely he will be given at least thru 2026 as he will have had a full 4 year recuriting cycle and if he's still jst getting 5-7 wins then you have to show him the door.

Fortunately, my life got in the way of me watching the debacle, but i read in several places that against the great passing team from Iowa, Bucky plays mostly Nickle Defense with 2 down linemen and gets gashed for over 300 yards on the ground.

Go figure, Bucky got its ass handed to them.

Worst defeat by Iowa since 1968.

The gild is off the lilly.

Here's the deal.... read this really slow and take it in:

This is 2024 NOT 1994, Recruiting is about NIL and getting kids the best deal. UW has it's head in the sand, even more so the old-school alumni and a big piece of the fan base. If you want to have all these academic restrictions in place fine..great but don't sit here and bitch when everyone else talent kicks your ass up and down the field, court etc.

This is why UW is struggling in FB, Hockey, BB etc. All this other stuff is bullcrap. I don't care if you don't believe that, but I live in SEC country and next to UGA and know how they built their castle. UW has no shot regardless of the staff and HC because the majority can't embrace and understand the changes.( SCOTUS says NIL is here to stay)

Until they make policy changes, most of the programs will be behind. Until the old-school alumni are told to shove it and let it be, we will not move forward.

A lot of truth here. The program is trying to change culture and some of the deep rooted BA stuff isn't going easy. It's causing waves behind closed doors and also prohibiting Fick from getting his program in place. To be blunt there are some people who intentionally want him to fail, they wrongly assume the old guard will come back but I think that was put to rest on paper with the agreements both PC and his DC signed.

100% UW is behind in the NIL game compared to teams like Penn state, OSU, USC, UCLA etc. Minn is actually ahead of us now in this. You now have to compete for talent with $$. Not Bucky's strong suit.

The dilemma here is if you fire Fick no one else worth spit is going to look at the program seriously and or do better because of the way college FB is. I do think Longo is on his way out after the season along with 2-3 others.

NIL money has nothing to do with playing Nickel Defense with 2 Down Defensive Linemen against a road grading running team.

I agree times have changed, money talks, and Wisconsin is probably more thrifty.

I agree that Wisconsin's in a pickle. We don't have a QB who consistently throw the ball in the realm of guys in the correct uniforms and we don't receivers who catch the ball if he does. Maybe they're too shocked when it does happen.
