2023 Draft Thread

Both are there at 15 do you take either one? If so which one? If not who do you want then?

I take Smith-Njigba but it's close. Johnston is more like Watson with long speed and less than accomplished route running who mostly wins with speed on deeper routes. JSN fits more what the Packers need, a slot guy who creates easy separation and can work the middle of the field.

Then there's that whole Big-12 wide receiver "curse" working against Johnston. Not necessarily a real thing, but there have been a fair number of flops with those Big-12 receivers.

With JSN, I worry a little about the injuries. He essentially lost an entire season last year. How long before that rears it's ugly head.

So, both have questions and in another year I'd take neither but depending on how this mediocre group of players at the top of the draft falls, one of them might be your best option at #15.

I think JSN is the type of player that GBs offense has been missing since Greg Jennings, an intelligent, agile, savvy route runner. He’s exactly what they need and i would even consider a mild trade up for him.

Not sure why Matt Miller is speculating that Herndon Hooker goes in Rd1. Nobody is pointing things in that direction on big boards or mocks. Both the Titans and Packers are drafting way too high in Rd1 for Hooker. Since he shows up in the later part of Rd 2 thru Rd 3 on most mocks/big boards, I suspect both the Titans and Packers are looking at him in that range.

Now, the Saints looking at him does make things a little odd. They just signed Carr and pick at #29 in Rd1 which would be a little early it seems. Talk about undermining your faith in Carr right from the jump if they do pick a QB that early. I wonder though if they are looking at him the same way as everyone else and are thinking they can get him with their second or even third round pick.

I think drafting Hooker would be less about Carr and more about the lack of other decent QB on thier roster…

He's coming off ACL tear and I think GB just kicking tires by saying hey if this guys falls to us in round 2 would he be a value pick there in middle of the second and is he looking like he's recovering fine.
