2023 Draft Thread

I don't know. Just saying, I can't see him lasting past then. Hell, the Bears could take him at 9.
Not sure on Bears. Bears have Moore and Claypool. I think the Bears need a OT or get a pass rusher.

i thought this was a good take:

Agree. Even more so if they end up with another 2nd round pick in a Rodgers trade. To me dream draft is trade down get another 2nd round pick. Draft Nolan Smith in 1st, Then 2nd round get Hyatt, LaPorta, Antoino Johnson. 1st two rounds you hit the major needs of the team

GB has ignored the TE position for so long that i don’t even know what GB values in a TE. They have “types” at almost every other position but i have no sense of what they look for in a TE. And i do agree with the take, it’s similar to the 2020 draft with WR but unlike then, GB has a second round pick high enough to still get one of the top guys at TE without having to trade up.

unless gute decides to use it to move up in the first round. he does seem to enjoy wasting draft picks.

This is a highly possible scenario. At #15, Smith-Njigba, Skoronski, Paris Johnson, and Christian Gonzalez are the best sort of reasonable options in terms of what the Packers look for in athletic ability (along with maybe Joey Porter), but I think there is a really good chance all of them are gone. At that point I think Gute would love to trade down and grab an extra Rd2 pick, if any team is willing.

Nolan Smith is an interesting guy - highly athletic, but undersized in terms of what the Packers like in their Edge guys. He's short-armed, light, and short so not sure how they see him - maybe as purely a situational pass rusher. The guys that more fit their athletic profiles later in Rd 1 would seem to be Lukas Van Ness, Myles Murphy, Darnell Wright, Dalton Kincaid, Michael Mayer, and Jalin Hyatt. I think they might pass on the TE's in Rd1 because there are 3 worthy guys in Rd 2 who could be just as good as those Rd 1 guys so my bet right now is one of those other 4, but who knows.

Agree with all 3 of your Rd 2 guys but would add Darnell Washington and Luke Musgrave at TE. Cody Mauch would be a fit. Gervon Dexter is an interesting DT who fits the Packers profile for high end athleticism. Isaiah Foskey and Will McDonald also fit the profile for bigger, highly athletic Edge guys.

Depending on how Rd 1 falls, the value from #15 through the middle of Rd 2 is not all that much different.

Anyone know anything about Myles Murphy (Georgia kid, so looking at you Mark)? Seems to be getting some chatter as a Packers option at 15. Certainly looks like a Packers edge (tall, 260+), maybe even too big if the 275lbs is real.

From Marietta GA, tall and lean with a nasty spin move... perhaps a bit overhyped but a solid pick at #15 if the top WR's are off the board. The downside is he can play a bit tall at times and loses leverage... needs some coaching to be elite.
