2022 NFL News

Shows you how bad QB pool in NFL is that teams are willing to deall with bad PR to trade for him and be willing to lose him up to a full season to have a good QB after that.
It’s more than bad PR. It’s a horrible contract. Just me but I don’t think they envisioned a one year suspension, maybe his lawyer hoodwinked them I to thinking that. Beyond the optics it’s horrible management

I tend to agree that they probably believed a much shorter suspension. That said, I don't think they are going to be too concerned about it either, as long as his salary doesn't count against them this year because of suspension?

They still got Mayfield, so that might be what they counted on, if the suspension was lengthy.

It’s such a small base, $1m. They paid out the signing bonus which is the issues. My point of bad contract

Mayfield is in a 5th year contract situation. If they trade him, they'll probably have to eat a lot of the $19 mill. They might just hang onto him, and use him if necessary.

I don't think he's gonna walk away from them to be honest, and he knows if he is forced to play, a good year and free agency next year could reap him a gold mine. Just thinking out loud here. I don't know for sure on any of it.

They eat every penny, it’s 100% guaranteed. What is interesting is that if they release him or trade him, the contract contains offset language so they could get some relief there

Browns were desperate and stupid. They screwed up QB market with that deal

Rumors were they were offering $8 million but other teams wanted them to pay $10-13 million.
