2024 Badger Football Thread

I think if any coaching staff should be made it's Tressell this defense is just awful and don't know if he's the guy to be rebuilding it.
I don't know he was fine first half yesterday scheme wise....he has zero talent at LB and he has no depth on the DL. I think you played Bama and USC the past 2 games and no we can't match vs them.... lets see vs Purdue and then lets talk

So, this is the week. Bucky is in a must win situation, if it is somehow going to keep its Bowl Game Streak alive. Bucky has to win this Saturday, or heads will roll.

Go Bucky!

Good luck Coaches Fick, Longo, and Tressel. Now is the time. No more excuses.

Chez Mellusi is apparently stepping away from the program to focus on getting healthier. I wonder if this was related to Fickell calling for a tightening of the running back rotation in his weekly press conference. He feels there are too many guys getting used right now.

That seems like it would leave Walker as RB1, The interesting question is who becomes RB2 - Yacamelli? or maybe the freshman Dupree. I guess we'll see in a couple of days.

I'm betting Mellusi was told he won't be the main running back.

Wonder what this will do to the rest of the players.

Snake bit program.

Regardless - this game is make or break for the current staff.

I think that's a good bet, given Fick's comments at his press conference. I think this sends a subtle message to the team, for good or bad, that we need results and if that comes from younger players, that's how it will be going forward.

It's becausse he still is not healthy and playing hurt deciding to rest and see if he he can heal up.

maybe . . . but there was one play last week, where they went for it on 4th and 1 . . where they ran Walker up the middle, instead of Mellusi (or Yacamelli). Walker, in my opinion, doesn't have that power to run that play as well as the other 2 . . and making Walker the primary just seems foolish to me. But I guess they're the coaches and the experts . .

Mellusi's health is more important than anything else at this point in his life. I'm not going to second guess the reasoning he's stepping aside. I'm going to take his and the coach's statements as being factual. It allows the coaching staff to move forward, and adjust their thinking as to where they take things the rest of the year.

I read that, and believe that is part of it, but - and, I'm just a cynical old prick - we see a lot when the current group if players is challenged and not given  their spot, they pack up and move on.

I think it's a combination. Unfortunately, I think it has a lot to do with not becoming  the guy.

i know the kid has been through a lot. I'm betting he came to Wisconsin with dreams of being  the guy and launching into the NFL.

i hope all works out for him.

And, I hope I'm wrong on the cynical stuff.

I wish the message wasn't subtle.

It seems that Bucky puts a real high value on experience. But, we keep hearing about young talent. I think we should be playing young talent if it truly is more talented. The guys we're playing - many don't seem D1 level - especially the wide receivers
