Official 2020 Week 11 Green Bay vs Chicago Thread

I agree that’s his role but he should not have been put in that position.
My question is why did they change his position. One of the good things that the defense had last year was the past rush of the Smith brothers. This year they are almost non-existent.

I don’t think much changed. They lost Fackrell in FA and he took on more of the OLB coverage role last season so maybe Preston has to do more this year. But I think the scheme is the same.

the thing about the Smiths is, both had career years last year. Preston was a 4-8 sack guy in DC. Z was similar in Baltimore in limited PT. GB bet they had some untapped upside and they were right, but at the same time you kinda are what you are as a player after a time, and production will revert back to average.

I hadn’t thought of the Fackrell element until you mentioned it.
Thanks for bringing that to light!

The what changed question ....I'll answer. This IS the NFL. All of the scheme looks both on offense and defense are known. If your trying to run the same look that this week's opponent practiced against their scout team all week you are not going to be very effective on game day.

Our defense isn't doing much to counter the weakness of the other team's offense in games mostly because we don't have the horses in the barn to do so. GB will look like a machine vs guys like Mitch this week but vs a vet QB that can read a defense and has some skill talent, we'll get shredded like cheese.

Offensively we aren't bad because #12 tends to cover up a lot of things. I still really love ML and his culture huge difference compared to fat daddy mike but I think he relies on #12 too much.... takes us out of the run game more than I care for. tc(

Yeah, losing Fackrell is the problem. I take it all back.
I didn’t mean it like that. Still, depth is worse at OLB this year than last year, yes even losing Fackrell hurt them. For whatever he was or wasn’t, he had a role.

I am all in to hoping for a big GB win. GB is home and the Bears O is questionable. Unless Trubinski is out then I would not be surprised if he starts. GB should be getting atleast 3 pts to win this game........
HOWEVER, after a tuff GB loss with many turnovers and with poor play calls and a soft D (even including a so-so Bears O)
Until GB proves me wrong:

Chi 27 GB 21. really hope I am wrong.

Mitch Trubiscuit is starting. He is Packers new Jay Cutler.

I too like ML and wouldn't want another coach, but wasn't he 'billed' as being an innovative coach? I wish they would throw some wrinkles in there. Even some 'trick' plays. It just feels like the same ole same ole. Maybe it's injuries. Maybe it's lack of talent. But I'm a little disapointed.
