Trading Aaron Rodgers

Love is not in the same planet as Griffin

this brings me back to my previous question. if love is truly nowhere near as good as a qb that wasn't good enough to make it in the nfl, why on earth would the powers that be in green bay push rodgers out and make love the starter? professional suicide. i get that gutey hasn't proven that he's capable of managing the packers (by far) and maybe he's just that stupid. but it seems unlikely.

All teams draft players thinking that the guy is going to be better at some point then the guy that is starting right now. Just a gamble that more often then not does not pay off.

depends who you believe. There are some talking heads out there who think that Love can be an NFL QB, many don't, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. You can look at the history of the NFL and find guys who got looked over that become HOF QB's, Marino and Rodgers as examples and some who were pure busts and that list is long

Remember Griffin was a Heisman winner, showed some skill at Baylor so that staff in DC has a bit more to work with. Love looks the part, 6-4 225 lbs and strong arm. Not a fan of the system he came from and his decision making is at best poor, and thats in a conference that does not produce a lot of skill players. Lot of decisions are made on reads so if he has issues at D1 level how does he translate that to the NFL ? To me he was a day 2 pick, not a guy you trade assets to get.

i definitely agree with you there. i'm not arguing that love will be a great qb at all. in fact, i think the packers' entire draft was horrible. if we get even one player who is a starter within two years i will be shocked.

I don't like the "starter" qualification for draft picks. Being a starter could just mean you're the roundest cow pie in the field.

Could Love become a starter in the NFL? Of course he could but he was not a top QB in the draft for a reason. Are there Tom Brady's out there that are not considered great that turn out to be? Sure but the likelihood is very low, especially with QB's and skilled players.

Love supposedly has some arm talent but the question marks are his accuracy at times, can he read defenses, can he go through his progressions, and can he be a leader when it counts. Those all big if's coming from a college like Utah State.

As most of us have said, we do not have a problem with the pick if it was a 3rd round pick or possibly a 2nd but to move up in the 1st to get a QB that has this many unknowns is just idiotic, IMO.

i personally feel that every draft need to produce a minimum of two starters. and i'm not talking about the will whitticker type starter who is made the starter because you have nothing else better.

so then what is your qualification for draft picks? if we get a couple backups, is that a successful draft for you? if you are saying that it needs to be something better than a couple starters, then i am even more convinced that this draft is a complete failure.

Jordan Love will be a starter for GB. Deguara will be a starter. Dillon might be a starter. Two of those 6th round OL may well start within the next two years. Just because you’re a starter doesn’t mean you’re good, it just means the rest of the team is crappy. Like Richard Rogers starting at TE.

I’ve never thought more poorly of a Packer draft out of the gate than this one.

I am a firm believer in judging a draft 2-3 years after. Sure we can be critical of some picks and also critics of not filling holes. Runyon could be a solid starter same with Dillon. Maybe not pro bowl types but who knows.

I am more critical of the move up for Love since it had consequences in round 2 and beyond. That’s a miscalculation of your board and also and “intel” that you know about.
