That’s not completely correct. Schefter is looking at $21M counting this year because his quick math says Packers already paid his $6.8M roster bonus plus have to count the $14.3M pro-rata signing bonus.
And his value did not change from Feb 1st to today. What changes on 6/1 is the organization gets more flexibility. The market was and still is limitedTrading Rodgers before draft made sense as you get max value. Trading him June 1st his draft value IMO halfed
His trade value today is no different than it was in February. The harsh reality is that it’s a very limited / small market with little move to leverage offers. Sometimes fans overvalue what a player is worth in the market. If this is all true.
Rodgers has some blame of course. He's behaving like a Diva. But, I do think he likes Wisconsin and Packers Fans. He doesn't like the front office that doesn't go after players to win now. Last year was the worst. But the Pack very frequently drafts and/or reaches on players - it appears that the Front Office is trying to look like geniuses to frequently by reaching or taking a player out of position rather than taking the player most think could just step in, play, and have an impact. I believe this is what Rodgers is mad about. If I were a Rodgers skilled player playing on a team that never got players for now, I'd be pissed.
But the Front Office. All that crap I said above. Then as far as handling situations, they resign Jones? Good running back but probably could have gotten Williams a lot cheaper and maybe kept Linsey. Too me, Linsey and Williams are better than Jones. And, to not trade him to the Niners or Broncos and get the 3d or 9th? You could have grabbed a QB at 3 or the big tackle. Great players were available at 9. I get the cash situation. But you're losing one of the best QBs, you've got to get something. Trading Rodgers to Denver in June will give us a 20+ pick.
