Rodgers Wants Out

Part of that deal was LA dumping Goffs contract. They paid more in picks to take it off their hands. Kind of a unique situation with both teams
i may be mistaken, but it was my understanding that the rams compensated for goff's ridiculous contract by actually paying part of it. obviously we have no way of knowing what the rams might have offered for rodgers, but he's clearly a better qb than stafford.

Yes he’s better, but Stafford is 5 years younger and that means a lot.

maybe to some people it means a lot. to an owner focused on winning now, maybe not so much. i mean so what if you get five more years of never winning a single playoff game?

to say this you have to believe that matt stafford is a better qb than aaron rodgers.
Nope. Not the point. The key to the Stafford deal was that you also have to take Goff off our hands and assuming LA even made an offer. Also from a financial perspective GB could not take Goff on with his additional cap hit both this year and especially 2022.

Take a look at Goffs cap hit and it’s clear GB could not take on his contract

i'm sure ball could have made some moves. but didn't i read that the rams paid off part of goff's salary to make it work for detroit? or am i just mis-remembering that?

Salary and cap hit are 2 different things. Ball and the organization was already in cap hell and to take on another $10m this year and $31m next year would just not work. I’m not a fan this FO but this deal with Goff to GB would not work

i'm aware of that. what i wasn't sure of is whether by the rams paying a portion of goff's 2021 contract, that lowered detroit's cap hit.
To $10m which is the current number. $31m next year
