Postgame thread: Packers Lose To The Lions 24-14

Packers just sucked at too many key moments. They've been dropping the ball in summer-like conditions all year. They were moving the ball ok most of the game and then suddenly they just wouldn't.

I have been wondering to myself all year if they actually need help at WR. They have a stable of 2s or 3s but I am not sure they have a real stud at that position that can be counted on all the time. Maybe they are just too young to have to that yet. Reed would be that guy if they have one, I guess.

But they held a team that has just scored 42, 47, 52 and 31 to 17 offensive points. Two touchdowns scored on 4th down. They were also gashing them right up the gut at will until they got so far behind they couldn't run.

Disappointed ? Yeah but we have a whole half a season left so let's see what happens going forward.
 
IMO, a significant factor was guys missing. Jenkins was horrible snapping the ball and they really miss Jaire and Williams on D (which wasn't all that bad really). But without that Pick 6, it might be a whole different ballgame. Lions simply didn't make mistakes and converted big plays when they needed them.

I'm confident they are going to come out of the bye and go on a roll. They were so close to a really big game on offense but the penalties and drops just killed them. We sat in the south end zone and Love made some sick throws.

There were a lot of Lions fans at the game. The guy behind me wouldn't shut up and must have jumped on the bandwagon recently because he didn't know Jahmyr Gibbs' name. "Hey is that the fast guy?" Then the Packer fan next to him screamed "Bring in Wilkins!" after the Pick 6....so goes both ways I guess :)
 
Defense was ok - that's an offense that put up a pair of 50 burgers in recent weeks. The pass rush just isn't getting home. I also don't think the OL was terrible.

The idea of starting Willis is interesting - I would have rejected it outright except the weather could have changed that calculus. Problem is by halftime they were in catch up mode.

There's a lot of "well this time last season they stunk and got it together after the bye", which I'm afraid could just be copious or optimism. Love HAS to take better care of the ball, his health and decision-making have to improve. The receivers have to stop dropping the ball. The team has to clean up the penalties and mental mistakes.

I don't think they have played anywhere near their best ball, nor have they come close to their ceiling. Here's hoping they can get it together and be approaching their peak when December comes around.

They will have 2 weeks to stew on this before they get the Bears, whose easy early schedule is turning into the tough stretch. Let's see how they respond.
