Packers 2024-25 Season Thread

There's no way the Packers will ever leave Green Bay. They'd be dissolved if anything, and a new franchise would pop up in a major city, and that would be the end of the NFL in Wisconsin.

But, there's no way in hell those of us who vote in the Packer elections, would support any idiotic move like that.

If you wanted to get technical they should be the Ashwabenon Packers.
The San Francisco Giants don't play in SF, but they retain the name, because it's identity, not necessarily based on location of stadium.

I would love to see a breakdown of the actual costs that occur for the city of Green Bay in supporting the team's existence, and see exactly how much they get, and how much of an investment they need to make each year in keeping things on track. Nobody has offered a cost analysis on anything. Just trying to play the court of public opinion, to choose sides.

Somewhere in our old threads it talks about the fact the shareholders have no vote in if the franchise folds or not..100% the board can do that without further oversite nor can the franchise move out of the green bay area. It's a sink or swim type deal.
They could however build a stadium outside the city limits in the county and be just fine... to be blunt that will happen afer we are both dead regardless.
As to the subject at hand that whole council and mayor would be tarred and feathered if GB folded...way way too much $$$ comes into the city because of the Packers. All bark no bite situation.

The city knows the Packers can't move so this is why the city is trying to screw the team over knowing that they can't really move.

The city charges a tax on each ticket in addition to the rent the team pays. The half percent tax was extend for a number of years to build up a maint fund to fix anything inside the stadium. So really outside of having to pay for the police on game days the city really has nothing to pay for in supporting the team. The city has been making money hand over fist with new buildings being built increasing the property tax and lots of people coming into the city because of the team making the city/county money on sales taxes.

they can just not be out of the area... building a stadium in Howard or De pere wouldn't be a thing as long as the HQ etc stays put.
I have wondered for a while do the Packers at some point say Lambeau is just to outdated with the bench seating and not able to make it any bigger then it is and say we want to build a new modern stadium. Granted that would be 10-20 years from now but I think it could happen.

The Packers can't be sold. They are a non-profit organization, and publicly traded. To even consider it as a possibility, the entire structure of the team's ownership would have to change. That would mean getting the majority of the Board of Directors, not just the Executive Board, to agree to allow someone to sell it, and the money would not go into anyone's hands, but a non-profit in Green Bay.

The day won't come where they turn the non-profit Packers into a solely owned entity for some rich people to profit off.

not talking about selling that's correct however the charter has the language to fold the franchise outright..it will never sell or move out of the GB area.
