Packers 2022 Thread

As you say though bad QB pool. Any agent will laugh if you offer his client $1-1.5 million dollars to start at QB for the season. They will say you might as go and draft a day 3 pick and start them if you want to be that cheap. Only QB you get for that price are guys who are out of the league because they are not good.
And Mulugheta also knows he’s got a better shot to maximize his $$ long term as a starter. Bridgewater iwas less than $1m guaranteed, so was Flacco, so was Geno Smith so was Dalton. He would be an idiot to take a backup role

Those guys took deals as backups to the planned starter none of them took contracts planning to go into TC to be the starter.

And that supports my point that Love is not getting $1m as a NFL backup. Once again, he’s more valuable in GB than the open market especially if the team would draft a round 1 QB at a rookie deal. And no, he’s not getting a deal in this league with a guaranteed starting role.

I think he could land a deal were he could be given the chance to win a starting job and get more then $1 milliion.

“A chance” is the key word. Once more he’s more valuable in GB as a starter in 2023 which is the likely scenario or even 2024. Fact is, he has no leverage or body of work to demand $1m

Well if he starts in 2023 you judge if you want to keep him. If Rodgers comes back to play I think you offer him $1 million for 2024 he finds better contract on open market. He's a former 1st round pick teams will give him a shot with how hard it is to find a QB these days. If GB would be cheap to offer him $1 million to start Gute deserves to be fired.

Former round 1 pick who many evaluated him much lower with no body of work. And if he hits the open market he’s 27 years old so here is your decision. Pay a guy with no body of work $1+ or draft of draft Drake Maye, Quinn Ewers, Caleb Wilson or even Jaxton Dart on a rookie deal and have financial control for 3+ years. Easy call for me. And it’s not $1m, APY is irrelevant. Structure matters. Nominal SB to prorate over 3 years. Minimal base and roster bonuses for year 2 and beyond.

So many fans that will die on their sword defending Rodgers and blaming everyone else for how Packers suck. They will maybe say yeah he has not played well but that's because its the WR,OL,Defense,Gute's fault

And to some degree they are correct. The organization has neglected to add WR help or for that matter TE help. There is no true #1 and 3 rookies. Sure he’s made his share of mistakes and is accountable but it’s far from all on him
