Packers 2020 Financials

Never. Fortunately. But, because of it, you get what you get. To me, the ambiance of Green Bay and the Packers is greater than anything the Cowboys, or any other team radiates. I say that because I was raised on a farm. I'm a cow-town boy.
I respect that and I embrace the legacy and history but it does not translate to revenue and honestly it’s part of the problem. The BOD and the organization for the most part is afraid to move away from the Lombardi era in many ways. The “brand” has not evolved or grown, it’s stagnant from a marketing perspective. “New” fans only really relate to Favre and Holmgren and Rodgers. Us “old” dudes remember the Ice Bowl but it’s not something that “sells” the brand anymore.

This is one narrative that gets a little old to me. GB always gets this small market label but its really a Wisconsin market. Revenue streams are not created to only deliver on football weekends. Milwaukee ranks above 4 current NFL markets and is on par with 4 others as far as TV markets.

The issue the organization has now and has for decades is the lack of creativity to develop revenue outside of its city limits. Titletown was nice in concept but missed the mark. It’s not “if you build it they will come”. The infrastructure is not there and neither is the “attractions”

Get creative. Build and open a Packer Pro Shop in Milwaukee & Madison and make it more than retail, attach a sports pub Packer themed. Understand your market and audience. So much can be done, they have the financial resources.
You want them to think? Geez! That left the building with Harlan!

I totally agree. Just stating that I "personally" enjoy the ambiance of the entire Packer experience, and our family has been more than willing to dole out the bucks to maintain the team since it's concept. The small town atmosphere I love, but I don't buy into the atmosphere of the Cowboys. They are not truly "user friendly" to older fans for openers.

Oh we agree here. But you and I and the plus 40 - 50 crowd is not the “future” of Packer revenue growth. One analogy. When I was at an ad agency that worked on the KFC business, we pushed hard to embrace baked chicken and portability of food. Other alternatives. But they were stuck living the legacy of The Colonel and chicken on the bone. We told them they risked missing a generation. They did. Until Yum brands got smart and revamped the menu and grew the brand

I like the idea of the Pro Shop, and pub in both Milwaukee and Madison. They could also add a "mini-HOF" as well. Rotate some of the memorabilia from the past into each one, on a rotating basis, to give people the feel that they'll get in GB, if they get there.

Also, use those locations to promote excursions by bus, to GB, and a complete immersion in the Packer legacy. The objective is to create interest that will spread, and those that go will spread the legends.

I've always felt that the Packers should honor John Madden for what he's done, to create much of the mystique surrounding the franchise. Even if it was done by video, over the large screen, and the first game of the season, it would rekindle a lot of emotions. I think the guy helped sell the Packers more than anyone else over the last 40+ years. Harlan harnessed what he did, and it worked.

Good point. But, it did drive a lot of us away from KFC, and now essentially all chicken plucking franchises. When they don't include breasts in a bucket, or 4 pc dinner, they done lost us old geezers! I was in it for the breasts. And yes.... I guess that makes me a breast man! sh))

I get the Madden idea but again how many 25-35 year olds remember him? It needs to balance embrace the past but push the future. Love the mini HOF idea

Educate them. That's the only way people learn history. When they start to get into it, they'll love the mystique that surrounds the team they follow. Nobody in the NFL can take up that same theme and run with it.
