Official Preseason Game 1 Green Bay vs Houston Thread

Packers last night did not dress 30 players. That's 1/3 of the roster. When you have all your starters and some of the key backups not playing you are going to see some really ugly football out there since only about 20 of the other 60 guys on the roster are actually making this team.

His shoe-string tackle was only part of his game. His read, on that play, was pure NFL standard. He totally lay out to get that one. It stopped what would have been a huge gain. He has a non-stop motor.

He just might make it on to the roster, and if he doesn't, I hope they can land him on the practice squad, so they can develop him a little more, then bring him onto the 53 man roster.
 
I didn't watch the whole game. I thought Love did Ok. I'm willing to cut him some slack because he is still a rookie in my eyes. As others have said some good plays, some not so good.

I only saw Jackson have 1 or 2 decent plays. Otherwise, meh. I don't think he makes the team.

Maybe my expectations are too high, but I was a little disappointed that Rodgers did not have a better game. Maybe it was first game jitters, but so far not impressed.

Special teams *sigh* Can't they do better than this?

I thought Funchess played well. Sure is making a bid to make the team or someone else's team.

I have to keep reminding myself that these are mostly back-up players. So taking a wait and see approach. If they start to look better next week, then I'll be pleased with the back-ups.
 
Will say Love looked decent for a guy throwing his first pass in a live game in 603 days.
 
Nijman would be my first cut if I had my way. It was almost like watching Wild Hogs letting the D past you like you were related to them.


I Jackson couldn't handle that You WR, what can you do about it.
Benkert threw an INT but that kid came in the game and woke up the croud. Too bad he wasn't throwing to the first stringers.

A Rodgers not impressed or disappointed...YET !

Hill, when Benkert hands you the ball, you don't close your arms before he gets to you.

They have to cut down to 85 players in 2 days.
Nijman and Jackson are probably already packing their gear.

Nijman and Jackson will be safe until final cut down days. You have gusy on roster who are just there to be a camp body

Guys who will likely be first to go take your pick of these 5 none are worth keeping.
