Official Preseason Game 1 Green Bay vs Houston Thread

I watched halfway into the first quarter. Didn't see much. Love seems to have a strong arm, OL backups looked pathetic. I was thinking the only to look forward to from this game would be watching performance of players on the bubble on STs. Unfortunately, STs didn't show any improvement. Was there a bubble player whose performance stood out?

Friends of mine who are season ticket holders complaining about game. Feel these games should be scrimmages open to public paying at the gate if they choose, but not part of season ticket package. No starters, 30 players not dressing and lackluster play irked them. Years ago, the preseason wasn't part of the season ticket package.

What I saw from Love didn't disappoint me. Despite what people want to say, his 110 QB rating says he did a decent job. The strip? There was no place for him to step up. The entire offensive line retreated back to him. What Mark is pointing at, and I agree, how did someone coming in from outside the left tackle get all the way around the offensive line, to make a strip on the right side of the QB? That's not on Love. That's on the guys who are supposed to be blocking.

I was trying to remember how Rodgers reacted the first time he took the field in an exhibition game in Green Bay. If I recall correctly, a lot of people were of the opinion that the kid didn't have what it took to ever replace Favre, and it was a totally wasted draft pick.

But, I digress.......
Watch yourself, he stunk.

Kabian Ento stood out for the right reason, Josh Jackson stood out for the wrong ones. Burks made 1-2 plays, which was much better than his usual pre-season habit of getting hurt immediately.

Josh Jackson can't play zone...never could. Either move him to safety or cut him loose.

Even though last night was disappointing overall, that kind of thing can happen when you're only playing maybe 20% of your guys who will actually be contributors in a regular NFL game. And 20% might even be an overstatement.

Jordan Love showed a good arm, and a lot of rawness and inexperience. He has a long ways to go, but there's some things you can work with. He's just not far enough along to overcome the lack of help he had tonight.

It will be interesting to see if the Pack does play more starters like Elgton Jenkins, Billy Turner, MVS, Lazard, Tonyan, etc. next week. Pretty sure Davante won't see the field until the games actually count and maybe no Aaron Jones either.

As tough as it was to watch that game, I think back to 1996. You had the most talented Packers' team of the last 50 years lose their final pre-season game 30-6 to the Colts and the Pack played a lot more starters in that game than they did in this one.

If there's one takeaway I have from this game.... it's that it really makes you realize just how good David Bahktiari and Elgton Jenkins are, as without those 2 guys, this offensive line looks pretty doggone shaky

Cut him I think at safety we are good.

Was not watching that close last night did Dennis Kelly get in and if he did how did he play?

Lackluster play from guys trying to make a NFL Football team amazes me, but I'm just a knuckledragging boomer
