Official 2016 Packers Training Camp Thread

Memories of Bill Schroeder seem to bring up lots of sideline and back-of-the-endzone, toe-tapper type catches. At least that's how we had to catch the ball if we were Billy at recess.

IMO Bill Schroeder was average at best. You look at the rosters from 99-01 the talent at WR was horrible You had Freeman a young DD who was fighting to just to see the field and not much else Schroeder was the best of a weak bunch of WR's during that time. Looking back you have to give Favre a lot of credit for being able to do anything with a lack of talent at that postion.

totally agree. schroeder spent a season with the patriots after the packers drafted him, followed by a season out of the nfl before coming back to the packers, and then it took two more seasons before he finally hit his prime at the age of 26. but then again, billy never played football in college. he was a track and field guy.

I think the team will keep 6 wide receivers this season.
Nelson
Cobb
Adams
Janis
Abbrederis
Davis
Montgomery to injured reserve

If Monty can't play this year IMO it means he has a possible career ending injury which is not good.

Monty had a devastating injury no doubt, but whether it's career ending is still to be determined.
We read recently that there's no timeline on his return which points to an IR spot.

The Packers must trim down the roster to 75 by August 30th after our 3rd preseason game, and then down to 53 by Sept. 3rd.

Join us as we follow along with the Packers’ early Saturday practice session.

Although the Green Bay Packers will be hosting their annual Family Night scrimmage on Sunday evening, the team has one more public practice before we get there. That practice takes place this Saturday morning, at the bright and early time of 8:15 AM Central.

This will in some sense be a tune-up for the team’s first evening practice, which will wrap up training camp’s first full week. Following Sunday’s event, the team will hold three additional open practices next week, in the evenings on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. That will lead up to a closed practice on Saturday before the team flies to Canton, Ohio for the Hall of Fame Game next week Sunday.

For now, however, follow along with today’s events as the team is expected to work for another two-plus hours. Will the rookies continue their strong performances on defense? And will Brett Hundley continue to show his mastery of the hard count? Keep it here to find out.

Quick notes for Saturdays practice so far

Kenny clark is 5-0 in his one on one's. That's damn impressive for the d side.

Same can be said for Spriggs. 8-0

Rich Rod is looking good in his new body. Big play in 2 min drill to set up a long screen to Starks then a td by Starks.

Still moving the 2nd yr guys around opposite of shields. Gunter gets 1st team reps. His speed scares me there but gets raves about is play

McCarthy said the team came out of the first padded practice "pretty good" in health-wise. Will be interesting to see if anyone sits today.

Good showing by Jason Spriggs in the 1-on-1 pass rush drill. His athleticism is very evident in that setting. #Packers

Jason Spriggs with another really showing in one on ones. Met a bull rush from Nick Perry on Thurs and recovered. Held his own again today

Few more notes

Abby having a solid day. Him and Rodgers work well. Will be a tough cut if he can stay healthy

Janis struggling again. Dropped a td. And got flagged for pushing off on another. All the tools just can't seem to put it together. He is a stud on st though.

Allison is having a good camp. Would be nice to stash him on the ps. He was good at Illinois and had a great Sr bowl week.
