I am still thinking like Mark Packers will promote Gray as he's the safe choice. Knows players won't make wholesale changes on defense.
Gray has been a 4-3 guy his whole life, I don’t think it’d be the same as Pettine. As much as I kind of see this coming myself, I think it's a bad mistake. If you wanted to end up doing the same thing, and get the same results, that's where you go. If you want to shake things up, and change the trajectory, you need to go outside the box to find the person you want.
That's correct, made that pint in another thread. He'll make wholesale changes to the scheme. Of those listed and reported only Grey, Bob Sutton, Kris Richards or Jim Leonhard make sense and I am 100% off the Leonard bandwagon.Gray has been a 4-3 guy his whole life, I don’t think it’d be the same as Pettine.

His scheme works great at the college level but if you think you see GB giving up huge chunks of dirt now.... too much risk/reward. I'll pass.
but isn't that partly because he's working with mostly 2 and 3 star recruits and walk-ons? wisconsin only rarely gets highly sought after defensive recruits. His scheme works great at the college level but if you think you see GB giving up huge chunks of dirt now.... too much risk/reward. I'll pass.
What does he have to work with in GB? He might be taking the big play gambles with the talent we have.but isn't that partly because he's working with mostly 2 and 3 star recruits and walk-ons? wisconsin only rarely gets highly sought after defensive recruits.
