Mark's Best Available Defensive Coordinators list

We Promote X old timer and bitch about his D for the next 3-5 years before he's fired. The time to hire young was when ML was hired. Now going late to the playoffs every year for last 2 you are trying to hire coaches after everyone else has there staff in place

I'm willing to give a chance to whoever gets the job. I just don't want ML to "settle" on someone, which I won't think he will. He'll get the one he thinks will match his vision. His presser about him being involved on all calls, whether D, O, or ST's means he fully understands what his involvement means. I trust his judgements.

At this point he really does have to settle as there is not much out to pick from.

We don't know who he had as his first choice to begin with but I understand what you're getting at.

Process of elimination Bud.
Soon Gray will be the only one left who hasn’t been hired by someone else and so he gets it because he’s the last man standing

Agree. The Packers started their search weeks after everyone else. It's not often a team that just played in the conference championship game fires 2 coordinators. Most teams who do that start the process 2-3 weeks earlier. Kind of an odd situation. Gray is probably the best bet.

The only thing you wonder about Leonard is whether he'd coach somewhat differently in the NFL. That said, I agree that if he stays true to what he's done at UW, it's a high risk/reward proposition.

Breaking new Mark Murphy in a way to try to get fans more invovled with the team announces that the team will not hire a DC. Instead they will select a fan DC of the game out of the crowd and be allowed to make the defensive calls for that game!

Jason Wilde tweeted that Leonhard was actually going to take an interview with the Packers? I don't think Leonhard would accept the offer of an interview if he was dead set on sticking with the Badgers. Sounds like some speculation there, but... que sera sera.
