From what I read yesterday yes GB wants the 2024 to be a 1st no matter whatIt may be that the Packers want the 1st rounder in 2024 no matter what and the Jets are saying no. You only get a 1st rounder if he plays another year.
I think GB knows they are not getting 13 this year. Seems Woody Johnson is worried he won't get more than a year out of Rodgers but GB won't back off a high asking priceI have a hunch the trade might not happen until after the Jets make that first round pick. It could be a 2nd this year, and a first next year, or a 2nd to 5th next year, if he doesn't commit to playing that second year.
I think Rodgers has to let Jets know before season ends. His $40 million option bonus guarantees 5 days after the SB. GB gets Jets 1st next year if Rodgers plays in at lest 12 games and Jets make the playoffs. If those are not met it's a 2nd round pick If Rodgers would retire after 2023 Jets get GB's 2nd in 2024 if GB gets Jets 1st if GB gets Jets 2nd the Jets get GB's 3rd round pick in 2024.I believe that after the first round this year, a deal will be made. It's all going to be about the Jets hanging on to this year's first.
Now, if there is nobody on the board that the Jets value so much as to hold the pick, they might swap it before they make the pick. But, I think that's less likely than 50%. I think it's all about them being able to have a moving pick next year, based on what Rodgers decides to do before next year's draft.
Jets are waiting until after the first round and then they do a Day 2 trade blah blah.... I am betting on a little drama to bump the Friday night NFL ratings up.Every day this horrible feeling increases that our front office will mess this up
