This doesn't make sense. Can't see how this benefits Packers at all.
Pressure on the Jets from fans and media to get deal done. GB does not have to move him for the sake of moving him they can sit on him until they get what they want

This is why: The Jets are a joke of a franchise, and have traditionally been a laughing stock. Now, a HOF QB has gone on TV and publicly said "I want to play for the Jets." This player, without ever throwing a pass for them, would walk in the door and instantly be the best QB in franchise history. He would instantly be the most talented player that ever played for the franchise. Packer fans/the org are spoiled because for 30+ years they have only known the credibility and relevance that comes with having a franchise QB, they have completely forgotten what it's like to NOT have that credibility and that relevance, and so I understand why so many fans don't comprehend what a big deal it is to have a player like Rodgers on the roster.

The players on the Jets are all psyched up about this. Fans are all psyched up about this. There is tremendous pressure on the Jets to close this deal. Imagine if they don't? Imagine if a HOF QB says "I want to be a Jet" and the team says "nah, we'd rather have our mid-first round pick and play our bust of a QB so we passed" They would be even more of a laughing stock and a disgrace. The coaches are already on a warm seat, it would get red hot for them, and fast.

GB at least has a QB and they don't need to trade him in March. They really just need to trade him by September. Nobody wants that, it's not in their interest, but that's the extreme case. They want a win-win but they shouldn't just accept bupkis for him.

Arod still has a nuclear option though. I’m sure he wants to get started at least learning the Jets offense etc.. if Gb sucks around too long on this Arod could easily say F it I retire then GB gets nothing but the disastrous cap hit….. GB isn’t in fulll control..

After signing Lazard and if they sign Cobb and or Lewis,,,,,,,,,then Rodgers saying he intends to play for the Jets..... that gives the Packers the upper hand as far as compensation. I would absolutely push for a 1st round pick and like a 2nd and 3rd, split between this year and next if need be. They are getting a big cap hit regardless, I would not go for lowball offers like a 3rd or 4th rounder. If thats all they will do, then no trade.

There are two dangers for Gb:

The before mentioned Arod retires or the Jets decide for multiple picks they go after the younger Lamar Jackson…

Let him retire gb takes same cap hit if he retire as traded won't take some lowball offer just to appease him and get him to jets

And then get no picks at all… talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face…
