I kinda love it. NFL people have been begging for pro-trained college kids, here’s their big chance. Especially for OL, Bill has a chance to do something pretty cool here.

i have to disagree with that. quarterbacks wear very little of the protective gear worn by running backs because it would interfere with their throwing motion. they are more vulnerable to injury. i think the slide rule makes sense, but i also think that they should not enforce the rule if the quarterback doesn't give sufficient time for the defender to react. in the end it's a judgement call for the referees, but common sense needs to prevail.I think they need to get rid of the QB gets protected when he slides rule altogether. If you’re a QB and you run you don’t get any more protection than an RB or WR…
Agree with this. I think there is a lot the league can do to balance this out. First, the attitude on QB slide penalties should be, the league wants to protect you when you can't protect yourself. Every season the NFL sends refs to training camps to guide and teach teams about rule changes and implementations, they should have refs start hammering these points home in OTAs and camps that at a certain point, QBs need to protect themselves on runs - if you're going to slide, you are obligated to slide early; if you're going to fight for yards, you are obligated to protect yourself. That means gearing up to take a hit, lowering your shoulder, diving forward, facing away from the defender. The spirit of the rule should be to protect QBs when they are vulnerable, not to give them a way to taunt the D into penalties.i have to disagree with that. quarterbacks wear very little of the protective gear worn by running backs because it would interfere with their throwing motion. they are more vulnerable to injury. i think the slide rule makes sense, but i also think that they should not enforce the rule if the quarterback doesn't give sufficient time for the defender to react. in the end it's a judgement call for the referees, but common sense needs to prevail.
Agree a fake slide they will be ruled down were the fake slided started no trying to fake so they can get extra yards because the defender pulls up likely when they see them try to fake slide.Agree with this. While I don't think they should get rid of the slide rule, I do think they should adjust it and even add a rule giving the QB a personal foul for a late slide, fake slide, fake step out of bounds etc.
That’s still leaving too much up to ref interpretation during the speed of a game. Unless you’re talking making QB slide three yards away from any defender.Agree with this.
