I was always surprised Favre's linemen weren't pissed. They might have been but were smart enough not to make anything of it.

Actually they were. I remember reading one time how Mark Tauscher was pissed Favre did that because the OL had a goal going into that game not to give up a sack and not give Strahan the record.

I was at that game sitting in the end zone. I clearly remember Strahan had a free rush at Favre and I think Brett just didn’t want to get hit. I think on the play they slid the line away from Strahan and Favre ran a boot out the other side and the WR or TE whiffed on MS and then Favre just turtled. Maybe he could’ve fought more to avoid it but I don’t think it was as egregious as some people talk about it.

Favre went rouge. The play was called to go one way if you watch every OL pulled the same way and Favre went the other way and laid down right in front of Strahan.

Isn’t that exactly what a bootleg is? A DE getting a gift sack because he stayed home on a bootleg isn’t some novel thing.

Though was it not like the last play of the game to or something Favre did this on?
