2024 Draft Thread

I was thinking if GB makes playoffs and is one and done they will get the 19th pick. Lets say there is a WR on the board that KC likes and wants to move up. Would you do this trade? GB trades it's 1st, 3rd, and 6th round picks and from KC gets KC's 1st and 2nd round pick. This would give GB a 1st, two 2nds, and a 3rd.
Would be a 1st, three 2nds and a 3rd total. As always, just depends who is on the board.

ah yes forgot about Jets Pick. you get 3 seconds and a 1st you have 4 possible day one starters.

that would be great. but highly unlikely. maybe if we're lucky, we could get two starters out of it.

A quick mock just for the heck of it. Don't really have a great feel for things just yet. Just getting used to some of the names, especially the Day 3 guys. The picks are from Tankathon based on current standings and include suspected compensatory picks. Tried to fill needs with guys at sorta the right spots. Let me know where I messed up!

Rd1 #19 Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon St, 6’6”- 334#
The Packers will likely draft in this area no matter what happens against Chicago and/or in the playoffs. That likely leaves them out of the running for the top OTs. Some think Fuaga has the talent to play LT though he played mostly RT in college. Others see him as a RT or even OG. The Packers need OL talent and a guy like this will allow flexibility.

Rd2 #40 Tyler Nubin, S, Minn., 6’2”- 210#
The need at safety is critical for the Packers. Nubin is a bigger, athletic safety who can play near the line of scrimmage and yet is regarded as being pretty solid in man coverage. Has decent speed and overall athleticism.

Rd2 #52 Brian Thomas, WR, LSU, 6’4” – 205#
A luxury pick, not really a need. With the recent emergence of guys like Reed, Wicks, and Melton, this is really not a need, except there is no tall or deep threat alternative to Watson, and he’s injured a lot. Thomas is tall and fast and specialized in downfield routes. I’m making sure Jordan Love has weapons.

Rd3 #83 Max Melton, CB, Rutgers, 6’0” – 190#
Cornerback is a big need no matter if Alexander is back to form or not. I think they bring him back but I suspect the injuries will continue to be an issue. Melton has decent size, and tremendous speed and athleticism. Some think he’ll go earlier, but many see this area of the draft as a reasonable fit. Yes, he’s Bo Melton’s brother.

Rd3 #88 Payton Wilson, ILB, NC State, 6’4” – 243#
We’ve likely seen the last of DeVondre Campbell, and McDuffie and Wilson are nice back-up/special team type guys. A former all-state wrestler, Wilson is a tall, fast, athletic LB with sideline to sideline speed and solid coverage skills with 7 career interceptions. Has some injury issues with an ACL in 2020 and shoulder injury in 2021, but has stayed mostly healthy the past 2 seasons.

Rd4 #120 Marshawn Lloyd, RB, UCLA, 5’9” – 210#
RB is a need because even if they find a way to rework Jones contract to keep him around another year, it’s likely he’ll miss some games. We also don’t know if Dillon will be offered another contract. Lloyd has speed and runs with good pad level. Has some experience catching the ball and seems like a willing blocker in blitz pick-up. Had an impressive 7ypc average last season against solid competition.

Rd4 #134 Marshawn Kneeland, Edge, W.Mich., 6’3” – 270#
With Preston Smith getting near the end of his time in Green Bay, another edge to add depth seemed like a good investment. Kneeland is a bit of a sleeper who is a little all over the place and might go a round or two higher. Has some impressive pass rush ability along with being solid against the run.

Rd6 #196 Beau Brade, S, Maryland, 6’0” – 2013#
Doubling up at safety seems like a good idea with the lack of talent at the position and with every one on the current roster being a FA after the season. Brade is a plus athlete who seems to be an aggressive and willing tackler. He still needs some work on coverage skills.

Rd6 #215 Tanor Bortolini, OG, Wisc. 6’4” – 310#
With Newman and Runyan likely gone some help at guard will be needed. Played every line position except left tackle at UW, but is likely an OG in the NFL. Athletic enough to get to reach blocks and the second level but needs some work on strength and technique. Not a lot of evals on him so hard to know where he goes. He's my token Badger.

Rd7 #236 DeWayne Carter, DT, Duke, 6’3” – 310#
A dependable run stopper. Not much pass rush. Holds up well against double teams. This is probably too late for him.

Rd7 #250 Dylan Laube, RB, New Hamp., 5’10” – 203#
A late round RB to add to the mix. Played at an FCS school so a little hard to judge, but showed some impressive receiving skills. The Senior Bowl will be a big test for him to show his ability against a higher level of competition.

It's hard to know how the off-season plays out, but with some salary CAP space I'd also supplement these picks with lower level free agents at S and CB, and if the money is there, another OG.

So half way thru season we all thought GB was going to have a top 10 pick in the draft. Now GB will either end up with the 25th, 29th, 31st or 32nd pick. Go 32nd pick!
