carter smith's stats for his first three years:

has thrown 5.6 times as many tds as ints. seems like he takes care of the ball. also has 44 rushing tds. but at 6'2"/186#, might be too fragile for b1g football.

here's what 247sports says:
Scrappy, dual-threat quarterback prospect that finds ways to win games. Enters senior season with 36 career starts under his belt and plenty of accolades. A bit unorthodox as a passer with his lower release point and off-platform launch points, but has proven to be a rather effective distributor on the move. Can generate plenty of whip with his torso and attack the sticks, but must improve the ball placement when operating inside the pocket as he tends to miss low or wide. Spirited as a runner and isn’t one that’s going to shy away from contact. Has also shown that he’s not afraid to throw a block if the opportunity presents itself, and has even got some snaps on the defensive side of the ball. Should be viewed as a mobile signal caller with tools to mold. Is likely going to need plenty of time to improve the mechanics and the footwork, but has what it takes to elevate a Power Four offense that wants to move the quarterback around and get them involved in the run game.

his mechanics are all f'ed up and that guy Locke everyone is bitching about had a much better scout coming out of HS than this guy...didn't translate to Power 5 ball. The point is to beware of this 24/7 and other hype-type sites. They are paid to hype up a player NOT to give accurate info.

P.S. to all if you think relying on a true freshman QB next year is good idea .... well good luck with that. Our freshman QB NEED to redshirt and then sit. UW needs to develop a 3 star or 2 and mold them... throwing guys in the mix early isn't a great idea college or pro ball. My opinion on this whole fiasco.

I am still saying that WI needs to either bring back Van Dyke or another starter out of the portal if Van Dyke does not return. No you can't start Smith if he comes to WI. Maybe Mettauer woud surprisse if he would stay and ear starting job but more then likely Fickell goes out and gets himself another 1 year SR to be his starter again.

Not on you RB, 24/7 has been off the mark for a couple years now, I'm not into this kid because of the flawed mechanics. If not for that he might have dozens of offers...as is he's a risk big time
