2023 Badger Football Thread

Getting Nick Evers is a dynamite grab for the Badgers. We can start seeing WRs who have size, speed, and the desire to play in the NFL jumping onboard with the Badgers.

This, to me, should give their rankings, on recruiting, one helluva boost.

I watched this kid play twice in high school, and he is amazing. People are not going to believe what they see, the moment they turn him loose on the field. He can do it all, and has the foot speed, to create so much more for the offense.

I'm really getting excited for next season. And he has all four years of eligibility. WooHoo!!!!
Fick is showing the fanbase what he's all about. So excited for this season, but the next few seasons to see this build

Gino was very well respected at UC, not only amongst the players, but in coaching circles too. Coach Fick getting him on staff is gonna do wonders, way past the X's and O's. Heckuva offensive mind and he'll get the players to buy into the program.

Imagine Armstrong at QB for one year, while Evans gets the additional training he needs, to step in as a sophomore. Considering both QBs understand the new system, it has to make us smile.

Also, notice closely, how these guys are recruiting through the portal out of the South, and also out of high school. They've already shown they're going after that hot bed of talent down there.

Armstrong is linked to Oklahoma State, had an official visit.

I don't think Evers comes to WI unless he's told he gets 1st crack at being the starting QB in 2023. I think Armstrong ship has moved on.

Yep. You enter the portal to play not sit, especially if your a grad transfer. On the flip side Evers does not want to sit 2 years in a row.

Evers is not a grad transfer. Armstrong is. If Evers knew he was going to be handed the job after a year of OJT, I think he might jump at it, knowing it would enhance his draft possibilities down the road. He has 4 years of eligibility.

Do you think the coaches are so stupid as to believe they could offer Evers, and then Armstrong, without Evers having a little knowledge as to their reasoning?

I am aware Armstrong is a grad transfer. My point is it’s highly doubtful Evers wants to sit 2 years in a row and also highly likely that any grad transfer would want to sit.

One more thing. While Evers has 4 years left he’s technically eligible to enter the draft in 2024 since that’s 3 years from out of HS. So basically he’s a RS Freshman in 2023. GBP4 point is accurate.

Think for a moment. Evers has already signed with the Badgers. He's going to be a Badger. Yet, the Badgers followed up on Armstrong. He's visiting Madison.

That means that either Evers knows their intent, and is good with it, or the coaches are complete blithering idiots, by offering Evers, then pulling the rug out from under him by bringing in Armstrong for a visit.

I'd find it very hard to believe the coaches are that dumb. I think not seeing it as a possibility is way too narrow minded.

Now, if the Armstrong visit was "before" the Evers signing, I'd agree with you guys. But, it's not, and the timing changes the whole scenario.

Do I think Armstrong becomes a Badger? No. I don't think he wants to compete with Evers to be honest. Just the risk of not being able to beat him out of the job would be enough to scare him off. He'll go where he's "guaranteed" that starting spot.

But, believe what you want. I'm not going to argue over it.
