Even though it was *far* from a great game, Lopez tied his all time high with 39, and for the first time in the Bucks' history they had 3 30+ point scorers. Nice.
We did win, so I can't complain about that.
You're right. Great to win. Amazing having 3 over 30. Lopez showed he still has what it takes to score, when it's needed. Awesome display.
But, the last 3 minutes were a total disaster in so many ways. The Bucks squandered what should have been an easy win. They totally let the Wizards back in the game, and Griffen was as deeply involved in the problem, making it worse.
Up by 7, 3minutes to play, you don't go for quick shots. Fortunately Lopez bailed them out. When you're up by 3, and the clock is winding down, you don't shoot 3s! You just don't! You work the ball inside, where you're shooting over 60% for the game. A two, or a pair of free throws, is good enough to make it a two-possession game. You don't put the ball in Giannis' hands with under a minute, and a two or three point lead. You just don't. He's a 60% free throw maker. You put it in the hands of Dame, or Connie. Even though the strangest thing happened, both of them missed free throws and Giannis made a pair.
You also need to either foul hard, or let the guy go, when driving to the bucket, when you have a narrow lead. On two occasions, under a minute and a half, guys fouled someone who made easy lay-ups, and turned them into 3s, and it nearly cost us the game.
These are things coaches can't allow to happen. When the first one happened, there should have been a lot of talk from Griffen about not allowing it to happen again.
I'm not a bit enthused about Griffen's coaching style. I don't think he really has control of this team. I think the team controls him, and the problem is, his input isn't significant enough to help them play more as a team than individuals.
I have no confidence in this team moving forward. They could win 55 games this year, and still get blown out of the playoffs in their first round played. They are too inconsistent, and don't play smart, like a winner should.
