Favre: Rodgers-Packers Relationship Could Turn Ugly

That actually is a reasonably good article.

Too much hand wringing about this whole thing right now, at least in terms of the whole off-the-field issues, but I get it, it gets clicks. I think another position should have been addressed and if they were going to take Love they shouldn't have forced the issue by using their 4th to move up. Still, if you are going to screw up on a 1st rounder better that it's a QB than some other position.

As for Rodgers moving on, I think it's almost inevitable that it will happen and people just need to accept it so there's less shock when it does. Almost every QB moves on. Of the long term starters in the past 20 years or so, only Romo and EManning come to mind as guys who didn't. I'm probably missing some. Why should Packer fans think Rodgers will be any different than the others. Get used to the idea now.

I suspect he lasts another 2 years in GB for sure unless, as the article suggests, there is some sort of Antonio Brown type blow-up between him and the organization. I think the most likely scenario is that he plays in GB for 3 more years, decides he still wants to play, and they move him to another team for a mid-round pick.

I also agree with the whole argument that this team in not one player/one game away from a Super Bowl. Before last year I think I predicted 9-7 with 10-6 being an outside possibility and a great season. If things do equalize out, 10-6 is probably how we do this year. They need another couple of drafts and a couple of key free agents to get there - something most of us were saying before the start of last season.

Problem for GB is that despite drafting Love if they want to win they still need Arod for at least 2, probably more like 3, years. The question really is do they want to win now? I can't say they do considering they didn't help the DEF at all.

i don't think so either. i think they would love to get a couple years of top ten draft picks before they launch the season of love. but the problem is that rodgers is still good enough to carry the team to at least a .500 season, so those high draft picks are not very likely to materialize.

Yep look at how SF became good. They picked several years in top 10 loaded that defense up and managed to find good but not great players on offense. GB picking midteens to early 20s won't get those stud players to fix one side of the ball likely.

There are teams that pick consistently mid to late first and are still good every year. There are teams that consistently pick in top 10 that still suck.

That draft position excuse is really over use.

We also have to recognize the fact that GB's scouting department stinks.

if you are consistently picking in the top ten, it's because you suck. san francisco sucked for a while. they got some very good players because it's hard to totally mess up several picks in the top ten, unless you are a complete idiot. the final piece of the puzzle was bringing in an experienced qb who had the skills to run the offense.

Keep an eye on Ari Fleicher's LinkedIn profile if you want to know which way the wind is blowing.

We sure as hell don't seem to get many game changers out of the box

Here's how I see things playing out. THIS IS JUST A GUESS EVERYONE! NOT FACTS, NOT BASED ON ANYTHING! JUST SEEING WHAT I DO SEE OUT THERE!

Rodgers plays the 2020 season with Green Bay. Assuming there is a season. They rework his contract with him that gives him an out through a trade. A deal is worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders, or San Francisco 49ers (don't get hung up on Garoppolo), for a ton of picks. The deal is done, and in 2021, Love is our QB, win, lose, draw. I believe the Packers would choose the Raiders over the 49ers for draft position, while Rodgers would chose SF over LV.

Kind of simple, but also very possible. Understand, it's a business, and even if Rodgers does have a few years left in the tank, he's not the guy that our coaching staff chose themselves, to run the team. It's that old motto that a new broom sweeps clean.

Without arguing, let's hear other ideas as to where this is going. We've got a lot of time to throw out what ifs, as long as they make some sort of sense.

Disclaimer: I don’t think Rodgers has multiple pick value

I think it’s 60%+ he walks away from the game in 2 years. Football is not life to him at this point

If he gets traded it’s to SF. The issue will be can they take on his salary. And just from a pure financial perspective for GB that’s 2 more years. They can make it work after 1 but will 12 adjust his deal. And if SF wins this year with Jimmy G that closes that door
