Packers 2022 Thread

i understand cap constraints. i simply gave two examples of where the packers failed to "pay their own" for players who are considered among the best at their position. there have been other examples and i know you can think of several. i just thought that was a curious statement to make about a team that has - on many occasions - let some pretty high-powered talent walk away because they didn't want to pay them.
I agree, FlPack I know where your getting the "they pay their own" but that source is extremely biased and frankly completely blew the Rodgers situation two years in a row....or did he :cool:

GB pays only certain players it deems fit their standard and that hasn't always worked well in the past 30 years. I know everyone thinks I am a Debbie downer but the franchise hasn't won anything in over a decade yet they take the same approach. That in itself bears scrutiny that frankly no one wants to put out there.

I don’t consider it a failure. You value positions differently and all teams do, basically cap / roster management. His LA deal was not something I would offer him

Hang on a second here. The reason they let Tretter walk was because they drafted Linsley, who also turned out to be a good center. Tretter developed into a good starter too but he was up and down with injuries while in GB. And they DID pay Linsley a second contract, he's a prime example of GB taking care of their own and betting on a guy to continue to improve. The number of third contracts given out by GB to non-QBs is a very short list, Bakhtiari is the only guy on it that I can think of (and as mentioned earlier, he has played all of 3 or 4 games on that third contract since 2020). Technically Preston Smith is one as well, we will see how that turns out.
Tretter was also injury prone in GB another reason why they let him go

I get that how GB values players / positions and that’s kind of my point. Linsey’s guarantee money was not in the budget and rightfully so.

I know the prettiest girl in the room left the party a couple months ago, but these leftover 4s and 5s best not get airs about them, that's all im sayin
