Free Agent Wish List

Well, we made it to Saturday without Lang doing a deal with anyone, unless I missed something overnight. He left both Detroit and Seattle without signing anything. Maybe the Packers can still find a way to bring him back. I remain hopeful that Lang is still willing to sign a decent deal with the Pack.

The other guy I'd like to see TT make a play for is Conner Barwin. Since there isn't much left in terms of CBs in FA, might as well get some pass rush help. Barwin played his best football as a 3-4 OLB and he might like the idea of getting back to playing OLB for a contender.

I like the Bennett deal. We got him on what is essentially, a 1 year deal with team options for year 2 and 3. He's different than Cook, but better. I'm curious about the Kendricks deal, considering Richard Rodgers. What do we do with Rodgers now? I know we've always carried heavy on TE's, but he can't be happy he'll be #3 guy, he'll never see the field. I'd be happy to keep him as he was good as a backup fullback and 2nd blocker on heavy sets in the backfield.

Still massively concerned about CB. Randall, Rollins and House (if he's brought in) are going to get smoked. I understand Randall and Rollins were hurt last year at times and forced into action, but Randall seems to be a soft tissue guy. Coincidentally, he's soft on the corners and can't clean off an edge or make a tackle. Now there's almost no corners left. Best available are Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne and Brandon Flowers. Flowers is entering that space that he's more fit for safety than outside corner, same with Carr and Claiborne may have been a contract year wonder.

With Guion facing suspension, I say we go after another big DT. Daniels was neutralized the second half of the season as he was double teamed every down. Dontari Poe would be a good fit. Our run defense was strong and Poe can rush the passer. Another target I'd LOVE is Donta Hightower, but he's not the type of guy the Packers target in free agency. He would be a huge difference maker for us though.

Oh no way....that makes me sick. They've revamped their OL.
Me too, Bud. I guess we can't re-sign everybody. But that's two OL that are gone now. Protecting the best player in the NFL is critical. They must feel they have players that are ready, like Taylor last year. I hope they're right! Detroit could be scary this year. I actually would have rathered he signed with Seattle!

They are not right about the o-line. The only real hope they have is moving Bulaga inside and hoping Spriggs plays better than he did last season. Spriggs was shaky enough that I'd have liked to have seen another year of development for him before I start him. Plus, with Bulaga's injury history, there is a decent chance you need to go 6 deep at some point for a number of games.

Tretter I understood. There was at least a decent chance he would not start. You can't pay that kind of money for depth. Lang I don't understand. You have to pay your o-line. It is the heart of your offense. You needed to keep the starters but TT does not respect the positions enough. My bet is that they are going to hope Barclay, or another UDFA, Patrick Lucas grab the guard spot. They'll pretend everything is OK, but it won't be. Hopefully they draft a guy who is capable of playing right away, just in case.

good for lang. wish we could have kept him but OG is easier to replace. The deal is super friendly for lang and NOT the lions.

As far as DL I agree, but I worry about Poes back. He in an NT only and not very versatile which I think we would want a Hankins or Logan. Both are big fatties that are run stuffers. Both are big upgrades to Guion also.

We should have close to 20 left so Im still hoping we go after Claiborne or Carr. And Hightower!!!!!

Let's not forget Aaron stated he wants a new deal after the Bears signed their QB. At least 10 million of what's left is spoken for right there.

I didn't even know AR said anything about it....things could get interesting

even if they do a new deal, it's not going to add $10 million to this year's cap. maybe $6 million. but they knew this day was coming for a while now. his contract is seriously outdated. the top four qb salaries are tony romo, joe flacco, carson palmer and kirk cousins. even matt stafford and ryan tannehill make more than rodgers.
