Post Game: Jets Defeat Green Bay 27-10

The o-line is a mess. There is no depth on the o-line.
Last year we were on what, or 4th string OL? Still went 13-3. We've also got some young talent in the pipeline. Ts just have to settle in.

This game came down to the trenches and getting our butts whooped.

O-line
Bak- Is a shell of himself right now. I don't think he will ever be the same. (Time to move on)
Runyan- He has been pretty good until this game; however, he was destroyed most of the day.
Meyer- He is just an average center. We really miss Linsley.
Newman- Honestly, he could be cut. He is that bad.
Jenkins- He is not a tackle. He is also not all the way back yet. He needs to be moved to guard.

Personally, I think we need a better center, draft a good RG, move Jenkins back to LG, and at least for now put Yosh at RT. This line is what it is.

D-line
Smith- He is an ok pass rusher but he is not great against the run. Starting to slow down.
Clark- He has played well this season but can be inconsistent at times. Of course, when you are double teamed a lot, I guess that happens.
Reed- He can rush the passer but I do not see him as a run stopper at this point and he is older as well.
Slaton- He is a big body and had a good game against the Giants but again is inconsistent every game.
Lowrey- We could get rid of him and not miss him. He is just a guy.
Gary- Best defensive player on the team. He had a sack and multiple plays for a loss with the bad toe. If he goes down, we are in trouble.

The theme here on the d-line is most are just guys. They will make a play here and there but then get washed completely out of plays.

I do not see this changing the rest of the year. We have average to below average lines and we have below average WR's. The offense will continue to struggle and the d-line will continue to have issues topping the run. Sorry but I just do not have ggg( right now. This team is just not very good.
Quay will get better as he learns the pro game. Campbell will get better the less he has to compensate for Quay. Barnes will return from injury.

The way I look at it, the D only gave up 14 points this week. Well, until it was over anyway. D didn't give up that turnover or that score on the blocked punt.

Let’s get a few things out of the way.
  • The defense was not gassed. GB ran 69 plays to 53 for NY. TOP was in favor of GB also. Total drives GB 13 NY 12
  • Definitely a trend, NY averaged 5.4 yds per carry. Not optimal
  • GB 2 sacks for 11 yds. If Gary does not get home nobody else does
  • NY was 1-11 on 3rd down efficiency. But also had 9 1st downs rushing to 4 via pass. GB did not put stress on Wilson and force 3rd and long enough.
  • Campbell was mediocre again and that’s not because he’s covering for #7. He looks slow and no twitch.
I get the issues with the scheme / DC but the drop in productivity from Campbell, Stokes, Smith among others is also a major contributing factor

I bet we beat Buffalo in a couple weeks. This team always goes through these down periods.

Y’all still trying to tell me the HC isn’t part of the problem in GB? Another head coach - our head coach’s supposed best friend - went in front of the media and slapped ML in the face. Told them ML’s team is soft and his lockerroom is weak. He’s not wrong! But saying it right out in the open like that?
nope, that's why I posted it... our unwritten rule has always been everyone is fair game. Fire away

Ok, since Mark said everyone is fair game. :)

Does anyone have any thoughts on why this coaching staff continues to play Royce Newman? He has given up 17 pressures in 6 games and had 32 pressures last year which was one of the worst on the team.

Also, it seems like ML does not like Yosh Nijman. He takes him out in the playoffs when he played very well in the regular season and now does not want to seem to play him at RT. Even if Yosh is not as good at RT than at LT, he cannot be worse than Newman at RG or Jenkins at RT.

Thoughts and comments?

Yeah, that can't sit too well. Hopefully it's an eye opener.
