With Pick 1 in 2025 GB selects WR Matthew Golden Texas

The thing you love about him is he's got speed and comes off the LS quickly..... DC will have to account for him at all times. This means someone else will always be open....ML is going to have a blast adding him to his offense.
I think he has some Brandin Cooks to his game. Cooks is that classic McVey offense WR that for some reason GB never wanted to bring in as a FA. The long speed doesn't show up in highlights in the same way that, for example, Christin Watson's does, but you see how he explodes off the line, has snap to his routes, love his demeanor fighting for the ball, adjusting. I know rb posted the drop % but I do like that he's clearly a natural hands catcher which I don't see really from any other WR on our roster right now, especially Watson and Wicks are body catchers.

His drop % is still better than any other WR Gb has though…. :p

Not surprisingly, Watson's Dad and Brother causing a ruckus - or trying to

Storm on the horizon during a contract year.
Someone is a idiot who can't admit his son won't play the majority of the year and is going into a contract year. GB has to be smart to look for a replacement. His son is going to have to probably take a prove it deal in 2026 to show he is fully healthy.

Golden might resemble a few of the Packers' current stable of wideouts, but he plays more physically and is faster than anyone they have in the room, even with a healthy Watson (if that ever happens again).

Not a reach to pick him where he went, and a big need position - hard to fault the pick looking at it from any number of ways.

Packers nearly traded out of the pick. Saw it reported GB almost traded out of the pick to Philly at 31 so they could have moved up to get Campbell. Wonder what the trade comp would have been and if any chance if Golden would have been there at 31.

Glad they didn’t. With GB history of trading down and missing on some really good guys I like they stayed with the pick.
