What to do with Love might be all about what you can get for him and how "all in" do they want to be. If they could get a first for him, I think they'd do that in a heartbeat because they need impact players NOW. A second might make them think about it as well. With the way they are moving CAP hits into future years and will continue to move those hits on a few more players, this is going to turn into a 1-2 year plan. They need to win this year or maybe next. After that they'll likely need to dump salaries and absorb big dead CAP hits for a year or two and then retool.
Since they are moving lots of CAP forward and incurring some big hits in 2023, 2024 and 2025, with more of that kind of CAP gymnastics coming, they will need to add a lot of low priced players to fill out their roster in those years. You might see several of those TT drafts with lots of quantity over quality for a few years after this. This may be the year to go all in from a draft perspective and accumulate as many Day 1 and 2 picks as you can. To that end it might make sense to use Love to move up or to acquire another higher pick.
I was watching a video today where it was suggested that maybe they haven't cut ZSmith yet because they might try to see if they can sneak under the CAP with him still on the roster and then trade him after the start of the league year for whatever pick(s) they can get for him. Not sure he's got much value, but something is better than nothing.
