Rodgers Wants Out

What to do with Love might be all about what you can get for him and how "all in" do they want to be. If they could get a first for him, I think they'd do that in a heartbeat because they need impact players NOW. A second might make them think about it as well. With the way they are moving CAP hits into future years and will continue to move those hits on a few more players, this is going to turn into a 1-2 year plan. They need to win this year or maybe next. After that they'll likely need to dump salaries and absorb big dead CAP hits for a year or two and then retool.

Since they are moving lots of CAP forward and incurring some big hits in 2023, 2024 and 2025, with more of that kind of CAP gymnastics coming, they will need to add a lot of low priced players to fill out their roster in those years. You might see several of those TT drafts with lots of quantity over quality for a few years after this. This may be the year to go all in from a draft perspective and accumulate as many Day 1 and 2 picks as you can. To that end it might make sense to use Love to move up or to acquire another higher pick.

I was watching a video today where it was suggested that maybe they haven't cut ZSmith yet because they might try to see if they can sneak under the CAP with him still on the roster and then trade him after the start of the league year for whatever pick(s) they can get for him. Not sure he's got much value, but something is better than nothing.

No way Smith is staying. He's like 28 million against cap missed whole season with back injury and a malcotent. Cut him and move on he's not worth keeping.

The video didn't say he was "staying". The thought was that they might try to hold onto him for the moment to trade him closer to the draft. Obviously, if they don't get anything for him they'd cut him eventually. His CAP savings would be enough to pay the rookies and have plenty left over for some in-season need.

Never say never. We've also been told they wouldn't get AR and Adams back. I'm not holding my breath on him being back but it won't surprise me.

Likley they are seeing if anyone would give them anything but with his back injury and high cap he likley gets no one to sniff. I could see maybe some team look at Preston Smith for a Day 3 pick.

Z Smith not worth keeping P Smith would Z Smith would be last guy I would bring back out of guys likley cut

I think Rodgers gets 4-5 years just to spread out cap hit. If I am Love I am pressing my agent to try to trade me as I really don't want to sit another 2 years.
Read my post. 2-3 years in “structure” similar to deals like 33. He has zero leverage to demand a trade

No he does not have leverage but GB gets less the longer he gets to end of contract might be best to trade him now when value might be highest

Thing wit Love while he has no leverage sitting for 2 years means he's a FA with no starting under his belt and have zero idea if Rodgers will play 1 year or 4 more years. That's why I don't want to be in GB if I am Love because even if Rodgers retires after 2 years what kind of contract will GB offer me to start and will they even offer me a contract or decide that I can walk in FA?
He’s gives the team financial security for 2 years. It’s a business. Dunn knows how to play this

Yeah and if GB gets an offer of a 3rd for him trade him I think Rodgers is in GB 2 years and would be risky to resign a guy who sat on bench for 4 years to be your starter.
