Rodgers Wants Out

You can't tag and trade....>>> A franchise or transition tag counts against a team's salary cap as soon as the designation is made. It won't shed when traded anymore. So no that's not the angle here at all.
But he would be traded before the draft and once he would sign the tender and be traded that tag would go from GB's books to the new teams book. I still agree though trying to tag him just to try to trade him is not best idea. He's not going to have as good of year with Love as he did with Rodgers. Packers clearly don't want to pay him big money and makes no sense to just to tag him for one year to play him with Love.

Franchise and transition players can be traded. However, players with unsigned tenders can't be traded until signed. A franchise or transition player essentially has a de facto no-trade clause or veto power on being dealt.

Imagine what we could get for a Davante_Aaron package.
Would be very hard as you are going to need to give both new contracts if you are team tradng for them and would be hard to fit both under contract perhaps.

Still say its at least 50/50 Rodgers is back. Will see once the season is over, I imagine it wont be long before personnel moves start to happen.
Rodgers said this last week that he will not drag out his decision. It will be made shortly after season ends.

And every team will low ball the heck out of GB because everyone will know that GB cant swallow those contracts and will get desperate. And everyone knows that there are only a few teams who can even think about trading for those guys.

Well if you get a 2nd or 3rd it's better then what you get for a comp pick. Plus there are teams who are desperate for a top flight WR that will give up a good draft pick to get him.

if you trade or cut rodgers, bakh and z smith, you have totally cleared up the cap issues. there are other ways to get under the cap too that involve cutting/trading/extending more players. packers are not going into a full rebuild, they are just doing a refresh. but don't expect the winning % to stay the same. we will be lucky to get a wildcard spot for the next few years.
